My kitchen is not Kosher (we're Pagan! eat pork, shellfish, and mix milk and meat), but on occasion entertain Jews, and may be having Muslims over in future.
No one's had problems in the past with "non-Kosher tableware", which is great, because haven't really felt up to kashering the pots. (In a pinch, for a real Orthodoxnik, would probably be serving on plastic and disposable paperware, and it'd be commercially canned/prepared stuff....)
If we have Muslim guests in future, ARE there going to be any real special issues to take into consideration? Probably won't serve ham at a buffet, in general courtesy, but is anyone likely to shy away from a china plate because it may have held non-halal food in the past (for example)?
We routinely ask all new guests beforehand "any allergies, dietary issues or medical problems, or foods you can't eat/just don't like?" so that we CAN feed folks things they can eat....
Help! Tips/comments much appreciated. No slurring allowed!
