I have a friend who professes to be a Christian and he has been a Buddhist in the past, now he's looking into it again. He tells me he's looking to 'increase his spirituality' . What do Buddhists believe in???

I believe organized religion helps people cope with things like loss, grief, etc. But scientology seems to shun all that. I tried to go to the website to read on it and had to answer a whole lot of questions and I quickly got bored. I heard stuff about aliens and the like. Is that true? How can a novelist start a religion. I was young and I remember a lady climbing a hill and they were talking about the book "Diuretix" I think, by L Ron Hubbard. And the episode of S Park was funny but answered no questions. Please assist.

St Peter says, you are all going to have to answer a question so that I can decide if you deserve to come to heaven. The questions will range in difficulty according to how long you have served as nuns.

He starts with the novice (who is in training to be a nun) "What was the name of the first human God created?" She answers "That''s easy - Adam".

"Good, good", says St Peter, "off you go inside" "Now, Sister Mary Francis, you've been a nun for seven year's, What is the name of the garden where Adam and Eve first lived?"

"Oh, easy-peasy", answers sister Mary Francis, "Eden".

"Good, good", says St Peter "Off you go inside". "Now, Mother Superior.... what was the first thing that Eve said when she first laid eyes on Adam?"

Mother Superior thinks for a while. Then she says: "Gosh, that's a hard one."

A survey of 7,000 people in six countries found that the Shell oil logo, the Mercedes badge and the five Olympic rings were recognised far more widely than the Christian cross . 88% of people recognised the MacDonalds arches and the glowing yellow Shell, while a mere 54% could identify the Christian cross.

Why is this so ?

True story.

A few nights ago, I went out onto my porch and found grocery bags...lots of them. Inside was a turkey, ham, loaves of bread and dinner rolls, juice, cranberries, fresh fruits and vegetables....all the ingredients for a Thanksgiving dinner.

There were other items as well. This was a true care package, and most appreciated as I am a disabled single mother.

I didn't think anyone in my area was aware of our situation, but someone obviously was. I don't have a clue as to who might have shown such generosity, but I am curious...

In your opinion, who sent me these things? And has anyone ever shown such generosity to YOU?

I saw in the paper today about a program that is gonna be on TV (in the States) next month. Its about animals in the womb, they have some AMAZING pictures. I cant wait until its aired in the UK. But the article went into how it will discuss why all mammal embryo's look very similar to human embryo's in the beginning (us being a mammal and all). And why dolphin embryos actually have leg buds that eventually disappear (it is thought that dolphins evolved from a land walking creature).
Does this tie in with the Creation story (I mean us all starting off very similar and dolphins having legs etc) or does this offend you as the idea of evolution does so many of you?

Just curious as to how those who dont believe in evolution would react to this program.

Heres a link to the article, its worth looking at just for the pictures, theyre incredible!

Bats are Birds(Lev. 11:13) ; a mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds and grows the greatest of all plants. (Matt. 13:31-32); turtles have voices(Song of Sol. 2:12); some four legged animals fly (Lev. 11:21); The Earth is fixed and unmoving(Joshua 10:12) and such a view was used to convict Galileo of heresy.

Clearly to anyone with any common sense these things and many, many more in the bible are errors big errors and clearly not just in translation, their meaning is clear, but wrong.

Why would anyone think that the Bible is with out error?
If the manual you used to fix your car with was so flawed your car would never get back on the road.

Does anyone still think the Bible is without flaws?

My husband is Muslim and preys 5 times a day to the east. He prays quietly, for about 15 minutes each time and has a beautiful soothing voice. Unfortunately the east is located right behind my PC in the dining room. The apt is very small so there’s no place else for my PC. His 2 adult sons have moved in with us they also pray there. They are much more extreme Muslims and their preying gets LOUD, SHRILL and can go on for over 30 minutes each at a time. The boys liken themselves to being young Imams (Like Ministers in Christianity for example) and from what I see they think they know more about Islam and are better Muslims than their FATHER! The problem: Though it’s a small apt do I have ANY rights here? I feel that if I ask that it be done elsewhere my marriage will be in jeopardy. Still, I’m sick of trying to drown out their annoying ramblings with my earphones. Why can’t they respect that I don’t always want to hear that?!

Ok. Some of you may have responded to my last question.

The athiest agitators act as if you know better because they can quote a bit of theology of congure up some plagurised criticism. But more often than not its an ignorant phrase like 'why should we believe god exists' or the statement 'gods not real'

When I asked why do they come here, it was not mean't to say 'this is only for the religious' but more 'What do you get out of coming to this forum?' A harmless question taken out of context by the agitators.

I myself have no religion but some spiritual beliefs. But I always respect those of others.

My point about global warming is this: To those who disregard a spiritual belief system, surely what is more important to you is what is happening now, so why are you trying to change people instead of the world?

The idiot who said 'I Cant stop global warming. What can one person do' Please do not reply. It showed your true shallowness as a human.

This is what a Muslim told me. So should I do all my sinning now, and really enjoy it before I convert? I don't mean bad sins, just fun ones. I am not too serious about converting, but if I have my cake and eat it now, I can convert when I'm really old and still be a very moral person, according to the forgiveness of Allah?

Jesus said in Mt 7:21 " Not everyone who says to me "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven "

Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, George Whitefield, Charles Finney and many others believe this also.....that it is possible for Christians to end up in hell .

Christians, what is your understanding on this ? Try to answer based on Biblical truths and not your opinion or what you think.

Explain Mt 7:21
