Do you place all your faith in a book or the questionable teachings of your parents?

When things are overwhelming, too much to endure, I have a habit of looking up at the sky and say, "Is the Heaven against me? Did God give up on me by deciding not to intervene?"
How do you find/see/feel the signs that God is indeed looking out for me and trying to help me become successful, happy in the future?

For instance, if you say what was before Christ, immediately Christians answer God was always there without hesitation. The likeliness of a god existing is just as likely as us existing, so where is the disconnect? Again, I repeat, the statistical likelihood for a deity to exist to create us is the same as us to exist at all.

I've been Christian all of my life. I stray for a while, but always do return. This time I'm debating leaving my lutheran faith for good. I attend bible study twice a week and church once a week. The people that I attend with are really starting to piss me off. They glorify things which they should not and are basically gutless worms when it comes to any kind of confrontation. My ex boyfriend was wiccan. I'm thinking about studying that a little.

before you start crucifying me consider asking yourself this question . Had Jesus died by guillotine instead of being staked to the cross would Christians be walking around with little guillotines around their necks or would the priests be kissing guillotines as they deliver their sermons at the same time motioning with their hand to the back of their necks as if they were chopping their head off like they do the motioning with the cross when they kiss it then touch their forehead down to the stomach and then to each shoulder? Call me crazy but a cross is perhaps more evil than the guillotine in that the guillotine is a quick and painless death , and the cross is a slow and agonizing one.

I am surprised at all the people who said no, so now I want to ask if you just rejected the gift. Belief is free and yours for the taking.

If you were in pain, is it possible that you would be short with another human being? Is it possible that extreme pain causes enough confusion in your life that you cannot act as kind with another human being? Do you choose your pains? Is this free choice at work when you have to have extreme pain and try to act honkey dorey?

Ok If Jesus and God are the same person and God commanded that there had to be a sacrifice to make up for sin and he decided that this manifistation of himself in the form of Jesus was that sacrifice then in essence God choose to punish himself but reason follows he could also have said lets just forget it because lets face it he's God so what am I to make of that?

Out of all the breeds, why choose the most vicious ? What does this really say about the owners ?It would be like choosing a tiger for the "family cat".

So many religious people say that we have freedom of choice. I can think of many instances where our choices in life are not there. Being pricked by a needle, some people feel more pain than others for instance. So is it their conscious choice to feel that pain? Is it someone else's choice not to feel it?

Saw the first half of it on T.V. just now. I think most Christian’s would find what she has done very offensive. I wonder what the Muslims think about it, if they have anyway of seeing it. I do admire someone’s creativity, with the set and ideas. But the way it was done I think would be very offensive to most people of all of the religions. What do others think?

There is still 45 minutes of it left to go, on NBC. If any Muslims are watching it somehow, please know that she does NOT represent all of the people of America. Most of us are NOT lewd, licentious, attention seekers, who are disrespectful of what is sacred.
