Do you place all your faith in a book or the questionable teachings of your parents?

The Bible in it's present form didn't exist until hundreds of years after Christ's crucifixion. Until that time Christians had the same scriptures that the Jewish nation had. But they didn't practise Judaism, they practised Christianity.

So, if it was just the Bible... then Christians would have practised Judaism.

The New Testament wasn't the foundation of Christianity. Christ was.

Why do you question the teachings of your parents? You should think God you had them around when you were growing up to teach you. I'm not saying my parents were always right but I surely would have been in trouble so many times without them to guide me. Now that I am on my own I have made up my own mind about my life but I wouldn't even know how to do that unless my parents had taught me when I was growing up. The Christians need the Bible just as we needed our parents. If the bible never existed of course no one would know Christ ever existed so there would be no Christin religion. But if the bible were to disappear today of course there are many who have memorized The bible so it could be reconstructed from memory probably in a more believable form. So in that case there would still be Christens. Thank God for your parents guidance. God Bless kisses Betty.

The New Testament of the Bible was written during the era of the early church. The Bible itself was not compiled and formed for a few hundred years. Christianity existed without the Bible until that time. If the Bible had never been compiled Christianity would still exist. Christians are followers of Christ. If we did not have a Bible to guide us, God would have provided some other form of guidance.

The only reason the Bible exists is BECAUSE of Jesus. Without Jesus, there would have been no need to share Scripture with mankind because he wasnt going to be saved.

But you are mistaken about the origins of faith. I know with mine, I started with God himself. After I was ready to believe him, I was ready to believe what was written in the Bible for me to know as a believer. Actually both of my parents didnt go to church. That is a common misconception that believers only get their faiths from their parents. That is why if you ask around in the church how many used to be other religions, grew up in unbelieving households, and how many ppls parents werent Christians you would be astonished.

Belief comes from attitude. Faith comes from the heart. Scripture comes from God which is the truth, and salvation comes from Jesus.

If the Bible didnt exist then chances are Christianity would have faded out or changed drastically. But somehow it has managed to stay around for thousands of years, unlike other writings, so, that must be a good sign.

Is the bible itself questionable? No, ideas are best transmitted through time by writing--without written words, pictures etc. gain abstract meanings and differing interpretation at a much faster rate than a written history etc.

I believe it would. Christianity is believing it God, not the Bible. The Bible is one of God's greatest avenues of inspiration but not his only one! I believe God inspire the ones He has called in other ways if the Bible wasn't here.

YES! God gave His Son for us and He wanted everyone to know. So if we didn't have the Bible, God would have found another way to spread the Word. Nothing is impossible for God.
