I've been Christian all of my life. I stray for a while, but always do return. This time I'm debating leaving my lutheran faith for good. I attend bible study twice a week and church once a week. The people that I attend with are really starting to piss me off. They glorify things which they should not and are basically gutless worms when it comes to any kind of confrontation. My ex boyfriend was wiccan. I'm thinking about studying that a little.

No, you should decide what the truth is.

Being pissed is no measure of what is true and what isn't. You can be pissed all day long, and truth is still truth.

Have the attitude that the truth is not afraid of scrutiny, and you will be just fine.

NO.

You should leave Christianity when you realize it is doing you more harm than good.

I stopped being Christian many years ago.

I checked into a variety of other things, but ultimately reverted back to what I was when I came into this world.

HUMAN

I believe religious organizations are in place to serve the basic purpose of enabling a few to influence the behavior of many.

Also, if you were to take a close look at the core beliefs that are taught in Christianity, you may gain some insight regarding the cause of low self esteem.

Growing up a Baptist, I was exposed to a bombardment of comments regarding my value. The preacher, and others in the church, were constantly telling me I was "unworthy" and "undeserving".

My only crime... I got born.

Should you leave Christianity over the stupidity and weakness of others? NO

Should you leave Christianity for other reasons?

YES!!!

By the way... you are human. Feel free to study anything, and/or everything.

You leave a faith because the faith is spiritually unfulfilling for you, not because the people around you piss you off. It's about your connection to the Deity, not a popularity contest.

If you don't like the people in your study group, my recommendation would be to go to another Church (Lutheran or another denomination) if Christianity still speaks to you.

If, on the other hand, the whole "Christ as Savior, God as Father" belief system *itself* doesn't satisfy you spiritually, then consider changing faiths altogether.

I would, however, recommend doing reading about other faiths regardless of what you choose as your own path - knowledge is always good.

If you are happy being a Christian, perhaps you should check out other denominations. Wicca is an interesting religion, I have been Wiccan for over 40 years. But this is a very personal choice. If you are not happy with your Christian roots, by all means, check out other paths. Not just Wicca. Check out Buddhism as well. Do some study into a lot of different religions and you will find what is right for you. If you are happy with your Christian roots, stick with it. Follow your heart. Wicca and Buddhism are right for me. I know I am going to get a thumbs down on this one, but I don't care. Some people are so sanctimonious and self-righteous that their eyes are blind to alternatives. And these same people may just be chasing away people like you who are at a point of disillusion. As for me? I am not judgmental of any religion! How many of you can honestly say the same?

For history, my mothers and fathers have been non secular, yet knowledgeable. i became consistently given a sturdy dose of technology on the grounds that's what i became interested in. They weren't literallists via any stretch. via the time it occurred, i became already addicted to adult men like Sagan and a sturdy believer that technology had the solutions. i became sitting in Sunday college one week whilst i became approximately ten. They began going over Genesis and itemizing what became created on which day. the element that jumped out became: Day 3: plant life Day 4: The sunlight, Moon, and stars. Now that became with reference to the stupidest element I ever heard. I figured the instructor became an fool for thinking the Bible mentioned something that shows this type of common fake impact of ways the Universe became prepare. So I have been given homestead and appeared. It did say that. some week later i assumed she became an fool for believeing the Bible. i needed to be incorrect...yet by no ability somewhat concept i became. I sat down and surely examine the Bible (something few Christians do) and located it the two incompatable with the loving God that I were advised approximately, and patently absurd with the unicorns, dragons, Ark, adult men residing in fishes, and talking snakes and donkeys. I see no resason to think of there's a god. I in basic terms see stupid memories that get repeated and believed because of the fact human beings do no longer prefer to ought to die some day. a lot of something of the questions you asked purely instruct which you don't get that we actually don't think there's a god. We could no longer probably entertain the belief of coming back because of the fact it rather isn't any longer real. you're asking us to start waiting for Santa on Christmas morning lower back.

Keep your eyes on Jesus and you will never be dissapointed. Don't trade your salvation because you met some hippocrites. We will not be able to blame others when we stand before God.

Maybe you need to try out some other churches or groups of christians you can meet with. If these people are the only problem then it is a personal problem and not a spiritual one. Pray about this situation and seek like minded people to fellowship with. It will take a bit of effort and stepping outside your comfort zone but may be worth it.

Christianity is not a religion it's choosing to believe in Jesus and asking him to save you from your sins and give you salvation. We don't have to go to church or study the bible, we do it because we want to be as close to God as we possibly can and we want to learn about him as much as we can. If you are not growing and thriving in your church then you should look for another church not another way of life. Why hurt yourself because of other people. Don't let them keep you from getting closer to God. Pray about it and God will lead you to a place that works for you. I guarantee it will not be with wicca. On anther note it is not a good idea to be with someone that is of another faith than you. The Bible tells you not to and I can speak from experience. My husband doesn't believe in God and it is so hard for me to accept that when he dies he might not end up in Heaven with me,not to mention the impact he could have on our children. My advice get out of that church and trust God, He won't let you down. God bless you and please think and pray long and hard before you make a decision.
