There is a rumor going around that one of the things found in the recently discovered royal tombs in the Egyptian desert was a chest of ancient Hebrew artifacts, apparently prized possessions of some of the Pharaohs. Among these was what is described as a coat of many colors, somewhat faded with age, but still very vibrant, sealed in a clay jar.

The coast, said to resemble a Nehru Jacket made from a Hawaiian patterned fabric is said to actually emit a soft glow in a completely darkened room.

Israeli archaeologists have already claimed that any Hebrew antiquities found in Egypt are their property, the government of Egypt has made no official comment on the alleged discovery but does admit that some puzzling discoveries have been made of late.

The Holy Bible
Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Put aside all of the scientific and technological advances, which are indeed astounding. I think human beings tend to forget that we are still part of the animal kingdom. When it comes down to it, those animal impulses are what drives us. What do you think?

I'm guessing there is no overall Wiccan views about Jesus, so I am looking for individual opinions. If you are Wiccan, what are your thoughts toward Jesus? Was he a good teacher? Was he a bad teacher? Was he God? Did he not exist? Were the accounts of him blown out of proportion? If you are not Wiccan, but have been in the past, how did you feel about Jesus while you practiced Wicca? Or if you know someone who is Wiccan, how do they feel about Jesus? I'm just curious to see if the answers are varied or pretty similar, and to know more about other people's thoughts.

If the question does not pertain to you (you aren't Wiccan or don't know someone who is), I don't mean to exclude you, I'm just curious as to their views in this one. Love and blessings to you all.

Why are so many church leaders (not to mention Orthodox Jewish and Muslim leaders) persisting in their view that homosexuality is wrong despite a growing stream of scientific evidence that is likely to become a torrent in the coming years? The answer is found in Leviticus 18. "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination."

As a former "the Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it" kind of guy, I am sympathetic with any Christian who accepts the Bible at face value. But here's the catch. Leviticus is filled with laws imposing the death penalty for everything from eating catfish to sassing your parents. If you accept one as the absolute, unequivocal word of God, you must accept them all.

Hey, I know and I'll admit that I'm pretty hard on SOME of the Christians or at least those calling themselves Christians that make hurtful remarks towards non-Christians. And yes, I have seen people calling themselves Atheist or Pagans creating problems for Christians. I believe what we need is a general open-mindedness on this site towards each-other and their beliefs. Sure we all don't agree on who is right and who is wrong. But in each person's own mind, they are right. Muslims believe the Quran is right. Druids believe that their teachings are right. Wiccans believe the Goddess is right. Each person has the right to choose their own path to spiritual salvation. For those of us that live in the US, we have the Freedom of Religion. This means we can believe in any faith we want, when we want, however we want. It just upsets me that some people would like to take that freedom away with their "Our way or the highway" attitudes. Does anyone else agree with this idea of open-mindedness?

have you ever thought about the King refusing Columbus, but the Queen giving him her gems to purchase what he needed for the trip to the New World? This is what happens when we ask The Virgin Mary for intercedence. The gems are wisdom from God as she says "Do whatever he tells you" but, she does this on a daily basis so we do not wander off. Can you consider this?

We had a seriously heated debate that erupted in our book club discussion form today concerning Nat Turner. Just a reminder: Nat Turner was a Va. slave that led a bruttal rebellion that attempted to overthrow slavery.

Here is the question: Do you all think that Nat Turner was a terrorist/murderer or do you think that he was a revolutionary? (I am not going to write anymore because I do not want to bias your thoughts with my opinion and commentary, I am purely interested to see what other peoples views are.) Please write thoughtful, clear explanations for your point of view. Feel free to use examples and the length of your blogs do not matter to me because I love to read.

There are some things that are fairly straightforward ethical guidelines (for example: don't murder, don't lie, don't steal).

However, some events offer competing ethical choices:

+ Managing communications with an ex-spouse over parenting your children.
+ Fighting in an unjust war (for example, German soldiers in World War II).
+ Responding to a family where child abuse occurs.
+ Managing scarce resources (feeding your own family vs. feeding your starving neighbors).
+ Responding to environmental degradation.
+ Choosing whether to take psychiatric medications.

Instead of specifics, answer the following process questions:

WHAT PROCEDURE DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR RESOLVING THE DIFFICULT DILEMMAS THAT ARISE?

Do you involve others in the decisions or ponder them alone? Do you listen to competing ideas or focus on reinforcing your gut instinct? Do you follow the same course as your parents or chart a different one? What if others see a conflict where you see an issue as "black-or-white"?
