I have been going through some medical problems that have been making my life miserable, but none of my Dr's could find anything. I have been praying that God would show me somehow what it was that was wrong and then two Sundays ago, during the Worship part of our service, I prayed some more.
Monday morning, I came to my sister's to use the computer and somehow made it into a site on Fibromyalgia. I wasn't even looking for anything to do with my medical problems...I just ended up there. As I read the symptoms of this condition, it sounded as if they were talking about me directly.. It was unbelievable!!
The rest of the week, I felt the need to hear the song "I Can Only Imagine", by Mercy Me, which I have. I thanked God for showing me that site and listened to my CD. Then this Sunday, as I thanked God again, guess what song our Worship band played?? Yep..and I felt just like it was played it just for me. All I could do was cry.. I know I now have my answer..

Here is an on going debate from my home group at church. When a Christian gives their will to God and commits to following Jesus Christ and then stops worshipping God, attending church and dismisses Jesus, are they still saved?

Are Tom and Katie a good example of how Scientologists really are? Or are they a little shall we say excentric? I ask because I am a Christian, and I wouldn't want to be judged based on how you see Mel Gibson portrayed in the press.

I'm not apart of any particular faith, but for some reason I want my daughter to experience many types of things while she is young. Not just religion, but I have to start somewhere.
Is it inappropriate to take a child of this age into a church. I'm worried she will disrupt people who are there to pray etc.

Some people say that God was making Abraham test himself, so that Abraham, not God, would know the quality os his own faith. But this is silly rationalization dismissed by the biblical text itself. Open your Bible in Genesis.

Gen 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God.

Which part of the "now I know" you don't understand? The word “now” makes the whole thing even more disturbing, like a nail in the coffin of “omniscience”.

One Christian once tried to duck the problem another way, saying that the angel said it, not God. But let us use the rule that the Bible interprets the Bible. Angels are mere apearences of God. The end of the verse proves my case:

“…for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son] from me.”

End of story. The episode contradics Christian theology.

Notice that after His resurrection and before His assention, Jesus breathed on His disciples that they would "receive" the Holy Spirit.

"And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." - John 20:22

Later, on Pentecost, the disciples were "filled" with the Holy Spirit.

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance."
- Acts 2:4

What is the difference? (And please don't say that being filled with the Holy Spirit means speaking in tongues because the Bible is clear that not everyone who is filled with the Spirit speaks in tongues, 1 Corinthians 12:30.)

I read answers on here all the time saying you have to accept Jesus into your life & you will be saved. But, then other times people say God. Which is it? Or if you accept one, do you automatically get the other?
Also, what exactly are people being saved from?
