I read answers on here all the time saying you have to accept Jesus into your life & you will be saved. But, then other times people say God. Which is it? Or if you accept one, do you automatically get the other?
Also, what exactly are people being saved from?

Have you ever heard of the Holy Trinity? That is God (the Father), Jesus (the Son), and the Holy Spirit. They are all the same being. It is very difficult to comprehend, at least with our human mind. The Bible talks about the three of them separately so many times it almost seems as they are different, but they are truly one.

The easiest way it was explained to me for comprehension was this: Think about who you are...for example, let's say you are a mother, a daughter, and an office manager. You are all three of those things, but you are one person.

There is a lot more to it, but they are all the same with different traits and do different things for us. If you'd like a more indepth answer let me know. I just don't want to write an obnoxiously long response here.

I just had to anwer this one..it is a really sincere question, and here's my simplest answer.
Jesus is the son of God. God sent Him to die for each and every one of us. When He walked the Earth, Jesus was God, but in the flesh. Having Jesus in our lives will save us. He is the only way to Salvation, according to the Bible.
Accepting Jesus will lead us to God. There is God the Father,
(actually God is our parents, both male and female, and is a spirit, so doesn't have one gender specifically)
To save humanity from destroying itself completely, God sent the son, Jesus. Accepting Jesus means we have accepted Him dying for us, and we try to live a better life.
In order to live a better life, God also gives us the Holy Spirit. One God, three parts to God. They all are part of true Christian worship.
Having God, Jesus and asking for the Holy Spirit, (which is a spirit, not a physical human being) would help us to grow as worthy human beings, worthy to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Without God, without Jesus, it is possible to be quite a decent human being..but when you're talking about Salvation, the Bible tells us that accepting Jesus into our life is the way.
It's really nothing confusing,,,it's simple...Hope this helps, and God Bless you!

God is three in one, God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Jesus came as Savior to the world so we accept Jesus to be saved. When you are saved you have God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. People are saved from judgement of their sins which cause them to go to hell. In place of this those who are saved have abundant life on earth and eternal life in heaven.

Jesus and God are one - Spirit of God. The only way to the Father is through the Son - Jesus. If you accept Jesus Christ - who He says He is - trusting in Him as your personal Lord and Savior - believing that He died, buried, rose again and ascended to the Father and sits at His right hand and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believing - you will be saved. You will have a "life-changing experience" and be saved from your sins and your selfishness. You will have Eternal Life. Listen - you cannot have Eternal Life without God's forgiveness and accepting Jesus and trusting in Him gives you that forgiveness - you can be reconciled back to the Father - but right now your sin is keeping your from that. I pray you will do this and you will see - your spiritual eyes will be opened and you will see life differently and better. You will have Heaven on this earth as well as in the hereafter - not a problem-free life - but an abundant one. Dear one - trust in Jesus and you will be forever changed - for the better. I will be praying for you.

First, people being saved are being saved from an eternity of suffering IE Hell. I believe Jesus is God that came to earth. He was born, lived, died, and rose from death. By accepting Jesus, you accept the one true God. There are many false gods out there, so you need to chose the right one.

Being "Saved" Is a protestant belief, not an original doctrine. to be "saved in Protestantism is to accept Jesus into your heart, and once you do that, you are saved. It doesn't seem to me like to much is required of a person if you are saved once for all time. As a Catholic, I believe that I was saved, by Jesus dying and suffering upon the cross. I believe I am being saved, for when we sin we go to confession and are once again in the grace of God. And I will be saved in the future, because Christ said he would come again. We say this during every mass in Ordinary time "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again".

Jesus was God in human form. Fully man, fully God...which is why He was sinless.

When we look at the Ten Commandments, which is the standard we'll all be judged by, we see very clearly that we have broken them. Breaking even one levels the penalty of death on us. You can put the mirror of the Law to the test by asking yourself if you've ever lied, stolen or committed adultery and find that quickly your conscience accuses you.

Since all of us have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), it stands to reason that we'd all be found guilty and worthy of death.

This is where Jesus comes in. Someone had to pay the debt (we can't...we broke the law) and only a sacrifice would do. Again, Jesus was fully man, fully God and lead a sinless life. Hence the phrase "The Lamb of God". He paid the price for all of us lawbreakers by dying on the cross.

As far as "accepting Jesus", that's a fallacy. What we have to do is repent (turn away) from sin (breaking the law) and put our trust in Him.

We believe God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to be one.

The Trinity

What are we saved from?......Ok, we are all sinners, even Christians. Jesus came to earth to live among us for the sole purpose of being crucified to die for our sins. So HE paid the price for us. All He asks in return is that we follow Him and we will recieve His give of eternal life. Otherwise we would be destined to spend eternity in hell separated from God.
The difference between our Savior and other religions is that Jesus is THE ONLY ONE who beat death. He was dead for three days and then arose to spend about 30 days still on earth establishing His church and then He ascended into Heaven with the promise to return for us one day.

To follow Jesus, you must....

Hear the Word
Believe the Word
admit you are a sinner
repent of your sins
be baptised
live a faithful live and tell others about Jesus

that's it

I hope this helps....good luck

There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through His self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 14:7.)

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived and experienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. By His miracles He manifested God's power and was attested as God's promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things. (John 1:1-3, 14; Col. 1:15-19; John 10:30; 14:9; Rom. 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:17-19; John 5:22; Luke 1:35; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 2:9-18; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Heb. 8:1, 2; John 14:1-3.)

Because of sin, we are witnesses of the reality of sin and what it does. That is why God had to die to redeem us and he will come again and save us and rid the universe of sin, sinners and the devil Satan forever.

Before there was sin, no one knew really what it was it was just a bad thing. But sooner or later it would arise and Lucifer iniated it and therefore in God's infinite wisdom sin is allowed to be played out so that the character of God will be seen and that all the warnign before was warranted.

Sin will never again rare its ugly head because God will not allow it again and we wont either because we see what it causes.

Even God had to pay for sin by the death of His only son, which was no ordinary death - no man or woman on earth every had that death - he died for the world everybody who died already died for themself.

Jesus is God...God is Jesus.. They are one in the same.. It is known as the Holy Trinity. Thats why when we pray, it is in the name of The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
God is all three... There is God, and then Jesus, though known as Son, is the part of God sent to earth in our "form" to spread the word and to die on the cross to forgive us of all our sins, and the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God that lives in us when we become Christians.
That is what we are being "saved" from is our sins.. As soon as you accept God into your life..your sins are forgiven and your past becomes forgiven and forgotten in His eyes... It is then your job, with His help, to live your life as He has asked.
