As a Christian woman I can tell you that I do not feel oppressed. Our Bible is divided into 2 separate parts hon. In the old testament (before Christ) women were very often viewed as possessions. However, in the New testament (after Christ) that changed. As women we are given the responsibility of raising our children in the ways of the Lord. What could be a more incredible responsibility? In our marriage, we are partners. There isn't a decision made that doesn't have my input. I do not know a lot about Muslims, therefore I would never make a snap judgement about your faith. Besides, If a person is content in their religion, who are we to judge? People should stop bashing the Muslims just as the Muslims should stop bashing the Christians. Everyone should be free to believe the way that they choose without retribution. In the end we will have to answer for our choices right?

The way that this is sounding to me is that you are still following the way that it was years & years ago. The Muslim women are still being oppressed by men and their religious cultures, but the Christian women are not. We have choices and we are aloud to speak freely and give our oppinions on what ever choices that we want too. The Muslim women are not able to speak their peace because the Muslim men are in complete control of them and that is ironic, & unlawful. Not only in our eyes but I would say also in Gods eyes as well .The Muslim woman are suppose to show the men their respect by being totally frightend of them. If they consider being scared to death of them a better way to show respect then it is no wonder why they are at war with us all of the time. If they are trying to earn some respect from this Country then they are most cerntainly doing it in the wrong way Now when it comes to showing respect to women in general the Muslim men does /will not show any respect at all!

The Muslims should want to earn peoples respect, not scare the hell out of them and believe that they had made them respect them. With them being this way I'm surprised that they have any respect for them selves at all.

Women and men are equal. They have every right to archieve what men can archieve. Gender discrimination is wrong. In the new testament where women are mentioned, some of them in the original greek text means wife specifically and not the general women population. Wife are told to submit to the leadership of husband in the marriage and family only, but of course not to do so blindly.

Yes, you are right when it comes to the literature. But culturally, muslim women are usually way more opressed than most christian women. I am an atheist, so I'm not a member of either camp you're addressing. But, I'd like to add my 2 cents as an impartial 3rd party observer. Peace

look, stop generalizing... not EVERY christian does that...

next, Im catholic, and I love the fact that a man has more responsibility... thats why men were made! to be tough, to protect, to take care of the family, to face the world and all its evil! and women were made to be care givers, to be nurterers, to help the family and children... to take care of the home... ITS NOT A BAD THING!!! if only women these days truly saw the beauty in being a WOMAN then we wouldn't have the problems you are talking about!!! I could go on and on about this... but i don't think there are very many willing to listen, or read..

Self-righteousness is a silly mind game that humans play. They think that
by pointing the finger at others, it will take the attention "off" of their own
wrong doing.
It's the Devils thinking. Because in reality. When they talk about others, it only gets the attention "on" them!

In Genesis 3:16 God cursed woman and told her to to serve her husband and that her desire would be to him and that Adam would rule over her. I Corinthians chapter 14 says for women to be silent in churches. However man does not listen to God, he never has and today you will find women pastors and elders and teaching men. Women are not oppressed.

the bible is about man's rebellion against God and going against every command God ever commanded and women are just as rebellious as men in that regard.

Many places in the Bible you find women playing very important roles and being prophetess'. Even this Christian female writer, Ellen G. White, has written I think the most Christian books for any woman alive.

I can give examples---------

These huge faith based conventions of men (forget what they call themselves) that promote the husband is the authority in a home, and the wife must do as he says (Baptist sponsored, I think)

Women in some churches cannot be ministers

The average pay scale and promotion rate for women is lower than that of men

These are just a few--------
