Hey, I know and I'll admit that I'm pretty hard on SOME of the Christians or at least those calling themselves Christians that make hurtful remarks towards non-Christians. And yes, I have seen people calling themselves Atheist or Pagans creating problems for Christians. I believe what we need is a general open-mindedness on this site towards each-other and their beliefs. Sure we all don't agree on who is right and who is wrong. But in each person's own mind, they are right. Muslims believe the Quran is right. Druids believe that their teachings are right. Wiccans believe the Goddess is right. Each person has the right to choose their own path to spiritual salvation. For those of us that live in the US, we have the Freedom of Religion. This means we can believe in any faith we want, when we want, however we want. It just upsets me that some people would like to take that freedom away with their "Our way or the highway" attitudes. Does anyone else agree with this idea of open-mindedness?

if anyone likes a rainbow, it is made up of all the colors of visible light. The strength of this country lies in that fact that more than anywhere else on the planet, we allow all the colors of humanity to express themselves in our society. In so doing, we have been closer to the truth than any other country. When any part of our society tries to stifle some or all of the others, we start losing that which makes us so strong and vital. Though it may make you feel better to do this, such control over the variety of expression will ultimately lead to our becoming a third world country. That is why freedom of expression is so important.

I agree with you. Speaking as a Christian, I would never compromise my faith by conceding there is another way to heaven; but we do not have to be hurtful about it. We are commanded to share the Good News of the Gospel, and then back off and allow the Holy Spirit to work within the listener (reader). We should always try not to "shove the Bible down someones throat" as we sometimes are accused of doing.

I enjoy this open format, and the freedom to speak my mind. We don't have to agree; but we should always ask and answer with love and respect.

Thanks for the great question.

"Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth"
1 Corinthians 13:4-6

I agree with your detail statement. While most believe different, i still think it's important to do a little investigation about the beliefs before you make a statement that could be false or misleading. I talk to others about the Bible, but don't beleive in forcing it on them, if they don't like it, i just take my leave respectfully. If your having a discussion with an atheist, it's best to use scientific or archeoligical evidence. If somebody prefers the KJV , then discuss with them using that Bible. There's no reason to use derogatory remarks or labels such as liberal, conservative, moron, cult, etc. cause that only stops the intelligent conversation.

Sounds about right to me. I give others about as much open mindedness as I see them exhibiting.

If someone claims to be the sole repository for THE TRUTH, I tune them out. If someone claims to have a few good questions, or a few good ideas of what direction THE TRUTH might be in, I'll listen.

That means the Pope, most evangelicals and a lot of Atheists, I tune out.

We live in a world with many different ideas, faiths, etc. It would be nice to value other people enough to let them believe in what they want. As a Christian I don't push my beliefs on anyone unless they ask. It is better to befriend someone and let them ask about your faith. The thing with Christianity is we believe that God has offered such a good thing for people that we want to share it with others. I guess some don't want to hear and that baffles me. Good luck in your journey through life..

Of course we need more open mindedness.
We should all be learning from each-other.
I Share my views, don't shove them down anothers throat.
I'm Christian, I'm human, I sin. My beliefs have made my life and those around me better. I give back to my neighbors and community. I'm trying to improve this world, not worsen.

But don't forget there are those that truly Enjoy ridiculing. They will continue to do so, open mind, or not.

Stop picking on the Christians. They feel the way they do because they have been told that God is a judgmental punishing Jerk. Just because they have been mislead into believing this nonsense is no reason to be making fun of them. Remember most of them were told this as little children when they were to young to be able to look at this from a logical basis and see it for the nonsense that it is.

We need to do what we can to make them realize that God loves each and every one of us or we would not be here.

You can’t help them by being nasty and making fun of what they believe in. The best we can do is try to lead them to the truth by example. If they see us responding lovingly to situations where they have been trained to attack or be defensive, hopefully they will notice and start to understand the True meaning of the message Jesus left for us.

Rather than the judgmental message their religion teaches.

We need to remember what Jesus said. Judge not, love our enemies, Turn the other cheek, and love our neighbors as our selves. Remember Christians are our neighbors too. We need to love them as Brother Jesus asks us to do.

Love and blessings Don

I agree that we need to be more open-minded about all belief systems.

With that said, I need to ask this question: Why do all the other belief systems have protection under the law while the Christian belief system is constantly under attack by the govt. and the communist run ACLU? Case in point; stewardness not allowed to wear crucifix necklace unless it is concealed while Islamic stewardness is allowed to wear berkas. What is fair for one should be fair for all.

Thank you for the opportunity to ask an open-minded question.

God Bless!

Anyone that has faith is generally good. Faith is a personal relationship with a divine presence. Anyone who attempts to shake someone else's relationship only invites others to disturb his.
