The more People loose faith, the more Religions make war. Any Idea?
Do they hope that the prospect of dying will convince me to sign up for one of them?

How do you determine what is right and wrong? And would you say there is a universal standard to which everyone can appeal? I am trying to understand how you can define things like rape or murder as evil if there is no objective universal standard. If the universe is without any universal, objective morality, then evils such as rape and murder are not really evil in the sense of being wrong, they are only unfortunate for the one on the receiving end. Also, as an atheist or moral relativist, what would you say to child on their deathbed? Tough luck? Too bad? How can encouragment go beyond shallow "youll be ok" phrases if there is no God?

So right now, Christian fundamentalists have the power in US&A and want to conquer the world. Islam also want to conquer the world, jews want to conquer Israel. all of them are armed and seriously convince it exist some kind of divine power of some sort...

So my question is: For people like me, who do not believe in god and neither enjoy killing other humans neither for territory or for the fact that they think their god is better than the other one, where could we hide as all other will cheerfully nuke each other between USA, Russia, India, Pakistan, Israel, Iran, palestinia, North Korea and all this ****...

Where are we most likely to be safe from nuclear bombing, suicide bombing, forced conversions, church-bell-sounds and Imam-screamings, KKK ritual killings, which-hunting, death penalty and other middle-aged barbary?

Aren't we supposed to be in the XXIst f*kin' century?

I've noticed that a lot of parents will send their kids to churches, in particular very fundamentalist churches that they themselves dislike. Why do they do this?

Sometimes I wonder if they do this because they want their kids to see a type of church they hate so they will decide they don't want anything to do with church when they are old enough to make a decision. If they don't want to go, why not find a church that they are more likely to attend themselves?

Do you agree or disagree?

I just found out that where I work will not allow us to put up a Christmas Tree, but we MUST display a menorah. I don't find that fair at all because if we are forced to recognize one religion, we should recognize ALL religions. And another thing, no one I work with happens to be Jewish so none of us knows what the menorah truely symbolizes. Please, enlighten me...

I'm really looking for honest, from the gut responses. Of course, if you've never doubted you really can't answer this, so I'm basically interested in hearing from people who've at one time or another felt doubt in god.

What was your first, honest, feeling or emotion.

So on the other hand, we have one text, the Koran, that has never been re-translated and the Bible which has been translated a myriad of times. What is worse? A niche group of people, shaping the way of our religious existence, or every man and his dog manipulating it? Let's not forget who in society will write these holy books. It definitely won't be the pilgrims!

Sounds like a bad deal for god. I think that (if he existed of course) he should have read the small print. It didn't inc;lude the Nazis, the Nanking Massacre, The Vlad Tsepech impalements, the Spanish inquisition, extended slavery, turkish massacres of the kurds in 1905, the chemical exterminations by Saddam Hussein, etc. So if you wnat my opinion, god was swindled.

good works to get to heaven? when the bible says good works has NOTHING to do with it? i dont understand why mormons say the read and believe the bible but they honestly beleieve other things? i can get saved and accept christ into my heart and im going to heaven whether i do a lot of good things or not. all you have to do is be saved thats it! so why do mormons think other wise? wher ein the BIBLE does it say u have to "be good" to get into heaven? yes you should do good works, and be christ like but that just happens when you know his love, its not a requirment.
