Sloth? Very few, I think. Most people who complain about their finances are damned for Gluttony, Greed, Pride, Lust and Envy. People who are lazy don't complain their lot in life- they have precisely what they want, and what they want is so very little.
In my experience, and my experience on the subject of sin is vast, sloth is a quiet and unassuming sin, which seldom leads to Wrath.
You should be considering not the lazy man, but the ambitious one. He is the greater evil.

Sloth is relative. Financial problems are relative. You can work "Harder" in order to get more money. But there's a cost to that. Mainly that after a certain point, you lose sleep, you lose the time that you could otherwise be spending living life in some way that you enjoy, etc etc etc.
Redefine your terms before you expect an answer.

It's more a problem of living beyond their means.
I'm sure sloth could apply if they would spend more time discerning their current situation and finances. Slothfulness is a sad state to be in. Following good financial discipline is hard but worth it.
Maybe if we brought back slavery for debt things would change a bit...
Any other questions?

I find that the question repugnant. Both myself and my wife work full time, we have a five year old son but, unfortunately, the way this country works (UK) we are both unfairly taxed on everything we do and end up having to scrimp and save to meet our basic monthly needs. In the meantime those that are truly slothful, i.e. those who have discovered the benefit of benefits are taking the bread from my family's hand thanks to this inept, wasteful government. So the answer is no...

There are lots of reasons. What comes to mind is medical problems. I read one account of a man in his fiftys who lost his job when the world trade towers came down. That's where his office was. He can't seem to find another job,(one of the reasons is his age) and is now having some pretty bad financial problems.

Probably about 99.8%
Please note, asker did not say "the poor", asker said "people who complain of financial problems" A world of difference there, most "financial problems" are self-inflicted. Poor slobs in the Sean John's and bling, rocking out with their iPods. Gimme a break.

There are 2 answers, at least: sloth and overspending. I vote for overspending. Most people are not slothful.

Very few, I would guess. The cost for the necessities of living such as food, fuel and other forms of energy, routine urgent and emergency health care, repairs to homes and cars, sky high taces are straining many people's budgets these days.

Okay, first of all, all of you poeple who think you know what you are talking about but have never ever even glimpsed anything in your life that might be problematic, you make me sick!! If you don't know what you're talking about, then don't say anything at all.
Now to answer your question:
Absolutely not. Some people can't win no matter what they do. Case in point: me.
I have worked more than 60 hours a week every day of my life since I was 8 years old. I had to support my lazy drunk dad and his even lazier and drunker girlfriend, forced to support not only alcohol, but proliferous drug and tabbacco addictions as well. So when I was 15, I moved out on my own with an older roomate. Throughout high school, I worked one full time job and one part time job, as well as the occasional seasonal work that tends to come up around the holidays. All the while, I maintained a cool 4.0 GPA with honors, AP, and advanced level classes, as well as extracurricular activities.
After high school, I got a different roomate, one I was actually dating. However, he went behind my back for a year and a half using my credit info to get credit cards. (while at the same time, rarely holding a job for more than a month.)I didn't find out until I moved out, due to other dishonesties.
So far we're at 20, and I was not able to go to college yet because I have been slaving around the clock since I was a child, and now I'm livingin in my own apartment and I start getting bills that add up to over $30,000 in credit card debt. About six months later I find out that I'm sick...a hereditary disease, treatable, but not curable, called Familial Polyposis. So thats a hysterical amount in doctor bills, I'm embarrased to say how much.
Around this time I finally manage to find my long lost mother. Unfortunately to find out, my grandmother and great grand mother that I haven't seen since about 8 are both dead (same hereditary disease), but nevertheless, I develop a close knit relationship with her, finally.
Then the full time job I had had for over three years had to let me go, they were closing down my department and didn't want to train me for anything else. They said there might be something opening up in a few months, but whatever. So I end up actually finding a better job.
Three months later, my mom dies suddenly. Cardiac complications with the same above disease. On top of the grief, I have paralegals beating down my door to pay the legal bills my mom (she was still taking care of the final affairsof my grandmother). But this lawyer was incompetent and never actually finished anything...but still they are demanding payment, as are another half dozen or so creditors.
No matter how hard I try to fit college into my financial budget and my time budget, it never works. If I work enough to pay for it myself, then I can't schedule classes because I'll be working during day and night classes. I can't get a loan because my roomate shot my credit to hell. I can't even get govt assistance because they claim I make too much. I work two jobs just to stay alive...and I make too much?
The answer to your question is no. and...
GROW UP YOU IGNORANT SNOB!!!!!!!
