The sun gives light that we need for life to exist.
The Son, Jesus, is the light of the world and our life.

The moon shines but only with the reflected light that it gets from the sun.
The Virgin Mary shines with beauty and grace but only with the light given to her by her Son, Jesus.

anyone else find the people that use yahoo anwers as a platform to promote their religion (or lack there of) really annoying?

They ask questions about the existence of God and the meaning of life just to piss off other people with conflicting beliefs?

The book was mentioned in the book 'the pope in winter' by john cornwell. It is about how Pope John Paul II made so many people saints and why. It was called something like 'the saint factory' or 'saint production line', or something like that

Your wrong there is no god. So what? It's better to know you are wrong so you can learn and become right than to stick your fingers in your ears, shut your eyes and shout "La la la not listening nope not listening to you la la la!!!"

For instance in this movie about the metaphysical world. It says that the human body produces chemicals, now we all know that. It also says that the body becomes addicted to the chemicals it produces, hence the patterns we create in our lifes, and how we experience life alltogether. If this is so couldnt god just be a chemical experience, almost like endorphins. But we call it god?
Just wondering It is only a question please do not take offense.. I do not state whether or not is my opinion so dont assume it is or isnt. Is is just a question. A test of the national broadcast system

I have had some pretty scary things happen. I have seen a few ghosts and apparently after my grandfather died when I was 3 I used to sit and have serious conversations with him for like 6 months afterwards. I had a ghost from the time I was 11 that I have seen numberous times over the years and she is not an angel, I can vouch for that.
I have felt some pretty unexplainable things as well. Being wide awake I have felt something coming at me and it completely paralyzed me, couldn't move or talk but I did cry and I don't know why.
I am always getting weird feelings even though I can't pinpoint them. The one night I could not fall asleep and my BF was with me and he was like what's wrong and I didn't know I just kept saying something bad is gonna happen. The next morning was 9/11. This sort of thing happens alot but that was the biggest instance. Do things like that happen to anyone else? Only serious answers please believe me I already feel crazy sometimes.

I know it's a recurring theme tonight, but the communications are interesting.
So here's the point to consider - if there was no heaven mentioned or suggested at all in the Bible or Q'uran etc, would you still follow your religion, and why?
For the sake of the question, when you die in this life, you die.

I guess my sense of empathy has finally caught up with me. As a follow on from another topic on the vein of Satan...

Does anyone else feel sorry for the character of the Devil? I don't think what he did in the tales was the right way forward, but it seems like he's been subjected to so much hatred and been left alone to fester in his own darkness for so long that it would be tremendously injust of either God or Humanity to demand his destruction now.

Wouldn't the right thing to do be to extend a hand of forgiveness to him rather than a thrusted dagger of vindication? I know that I, for one, would not feel happy were he to be sentenced to extinction while I yet live.

If not, would Satan an exception to the "Love thine Enemies and pray for those who persecute you" rule? Could you justify that?

(And don't start with the "It's not real" stuff. It's a hypothetical ethical question whose query remains regardless of whether there is an actual devil or if it's just fiction.)

Why are many Christian churches so costly to build? Is it not more the way of Christ to give away the money and instead meet in a poorer setting, perhaps somewhere that didn't cost millions of dollars to build and maintain? Aren't greed and pride sins? What good is an extravagantly expensive church?
