The sun gives light that we need for life to exist.
The Son, Jesus, is the light of the world and our life.

The moon shines but only with the reflected light that it gets from the sun.
The Virgin Mary shines with beauty and grace but only with the light given to her by her Son, Jesus.

By the way, I'm not in any way trying to promote sun or moon worship. And I don't worship Mary.

this reminds me of a shirt that one of my friends has. on the front it has a moon and says "Be the moon........." on the back it has a cross and says ".......reflect the Son." So in all actuality we can all be compared to the moon if we live a life reflecting our Saviour.

The Bible delivers God because the daddy of Christ Jesus. Jesus being the son on Virgin Mary and the Son of God. Mary had Christ Jesus by the potential of the Holy Spirit. in accordance to the Holy Trinity, God is created from 3 persons: God the daddy, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. you may want to study the completed total Bible and characteristic such a good number of questions, and characteristic solutions only for a small fraction of it, it really is why there is faith. faith is believing strongly on something/someone that you won't be able to make sure or that looks extremely not conceivable or complicated to trust. yet by religion is how we are saved by God, not by solid deeds. praise God.

The Bible has some very strong words about people who worship the sun and the moon. Don't do it. Don't even try to justify it by calling it 'symbolism'. God is GOD, not a ball of burning gas.

Please read "When God was a Woman" by Merlin Stone, or "The Chalice and the Blade." The Catholic Church has been criticized for reconciling worship of Christ with previous worship of the Sun on "Sundays" and of "replacing" goddess worship (which was associated with the moon and other natural cycles) with worship of "Mary" to transfer the need for a mother figure to the equivalent in the church.

Athough God or Yahweh is supposed to be either "neither" or "both" male/female, some people still focus on the Creation as female (like Mother Nature, Mother Earth, or the earth as mother who gives life and sacrifices to provide for her children), and see the truth or central godhead of mind of God as a "male" authority figure (like Father time, etc).

In truth, as the Bible says there is neither male or female but all are one in Christ Jesus, the point is to reach a harmonious balance and respect between the male/female sides of our spirit or human nature. All people have an autonomous will, and also a need to nurture or to be nurtured in relation with others. So there is the male/female or active/passive side, whether to be in charge or to serve others as a helpmeet, to all of us that needs to be in balance at all times, though different relationships may require us to take on different roles to serve a purpose.

Because of this dual nature, all religions and symbolism have ways of representing both sides, the male and female as natural complements. Thank you for sharing your parable, which I think is unique and original. But I think the light of life is expressed equally through all people and does not come from one more than the other. Mary to me represents the Holy Spirit of the Mother Church, which is all the people collectively as the Bride of Christ; while Jesus Christ represents the embodiment of the laws by conscience. The Spirit of God's love and truth incarnates in both the laws/government and the people/church, so these are equal institutions. What Jesus symbolizes that is unique is the spiritual sacrifice that precedes redemption so past injuries and separation can be overcome, and spiritual reunion can take place. That sacrifice is unique on the spiritual level that Jesus represents on the Cross, but the long history of physical sacrifice of women on earth is equal. So the two balance out with Jesus as a male sacrifice, in order to establish spiritual peace and reconciliation between God in Heaven and people on Earth.

I have heard some of the Sun-Son talk, However, I have never heard of Mary being compared to the Moon. I don't see analogy between the two (Moon=Mary)?

Ive got a better idea. How about we have the sun as god, full of light and warmth. The moon is the devil, and a former reflection of himself when he was lucifer(light bringer)

Go and toy on that because it would be as believable as anything else.

these are highly symbolic indeed of Jesus and Mary, the seers of Fatima had a great fascination in that the moon was Mary`s lamp and did not hurt the eyes, and the sun was our Lords lamp and its brightness dazzled the eyes, check it out.

your thought is very similar to the pagan belief of the sun representing The God and the moon representing The Goddess. its amazing how people are just starting to realize that a lot of Christianity's beliefs are actually converted from pagan ones they couldn't quell
