Ghosts and spirits exist. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The Holy Spirit is one. Angels and demons are others. There are reports, within the Church, of spirits and ghosts that are true (at least validated by the Church). We call these miraculous apparitions.
If you are in touch with them, cool. Use your gift for good.
And no, you are not crazy.

You may be psychic and you choose for some reason to externalize your psychic nature into a "ghost" instead of owning up to it. That would explain the 9/11 connection, if that's not just a coincidence, which it could be. Ghosts are just people between lifetimes and nothing to fear. Regardless of what the paranoids may say, ghosts exist and they are not "demons".
When you have felt paralyzed you were simply experiencing what's known as "sleep paralysis" - it's very common and seems to happen to most people sooner or later, when they're overly tired. Accompanying the feeling of paralysis there's a sensation of a presence, often a presence on top of the body - but it's just an illusion and has a medical explanation.
Don't be afraid of being psychic, if you are. Don't let anyone pervert your psychic feelings with superstitions and paranoia; if you've got it, it's a gift to be accepted and respected.

Ghosts and the supernatural world cannot be tested in a laboratory so therefore nobody has ever proven these two phenomena objectively and scientifically. People might have written about (or dismissed it) under paranormal activity in psychology or psychiatry but since a lot of people have reported experiencing it so its pretty much what you believe. There are experiments carried out in deserted places and machines actually detected an increase in maybe the air thermal or electrical qualities when paranormal activities are felt by those who volunteered in these experiments.
What you experienced (the paralysing feeling) have been experienced by many other people in other parts of the world. So maybe you're not alone. A few of my dorm mates when I was a student underwent similar phenomenon.
I think it is the Quran that says that God said "I have not created jinn and men other than that they serve(worship) Me"; so if jinn (unseen beings) are worthy of mention before men then probably they do exist. I think it is a universal fact that the great religion of men believe in the existence of angels as subservient messengers of God. So if you have the good invisible forces you have the bad ones too, I suppose.
In the Islamic tradition based on the Quran and Hadith (prophet's sayings), the unseen world comprises of the angels, beings created from light and jinn, those created from fire. Energy in different forms. If Einsteinian theory of relativity is anything to go by, E = MC2 then somebody should further check into this. It is said that Satan is of the fire kind.
"Every living things must taste death..."
Which leaves us to ghosts. Are they dead human spirits? Islamic traditions as told by the prophet Muhammad said that once a person died, the spirit leaves the body and goes not to heaven yet, but 'barzakh'; the 'Grave' world. Limbo if you like. Here you wait for judgment day and since time belongs to God, and depending on what you do in this world, it could be either a very long time in the dark or a short sleep. It is said that good people 'live on' in an illuminated place performing prayers and invocations.
They may visit us in our memories; in our dreams. But be careful if you could see them. The unseen world is for the most part of it is beyond our mortal comprehension. Even those who claim to know it very well can be deceived. Things might not turn out to be what it seems. It could for all you know be an elaborate deception by these scheming jinns to either tempt you or lead you astray. Remember you are in their turf.
So with this 'gift' that you have or every time you here a voice in your head, be very very careful where you tread. Seek guidance and do not be lost and deceived in the unseen world.

I had a friend who experienced a very similar thing in his house. My friend would be in bed and sometimes it would feel as if somebody was actually holding him down, he couldn't scream or speak and it lasted quite a few moments. You are not crazy things like this do happen although I don't know why.
Also, the thing about 9/11, it is possible that you are very sensitive to premonitions and things of that sort. My mom is what some people call psychic. She has bad migraine headaches before there are major earthquakes and has had some other non-explainable things happen to her. I would suggest that you start keeping a journal about your feelings of things that might happen and also keep a journal of your experiences with the ghosts, maybe you will start to see a pattern.
It has helped my family to do these things.

Ghosts exist. Not all people can feel them. But there are sensitive people, whose soul can sometimes get separated temporarily from the body and may contact these ghosts.
Don't be afraid. You are a blessed person.
A ghost is a soul that is still wandering in this world although the body has died.
These ghosts have the ability to sense future events. Some of the ghosts tell truth other tell lies, most of them tell you a mixed of truth and lies and you should make some efforts to find out the truth from their revelations.
Evil ghosts will not disturb you if you put the holy Bible under your pillow. These ghosts are afraid from holly books.
If these ghosts disturbs you in a way that you want to get rid of them, some good (true) mediums can do the job.
On the other hand you can be friend with this ghosts, and they can guide you in your life; but you must not be afraid from them.

yes ghost exist I am a Paranormal investigator and yes they exist. everyone is sensitive to a degree some just feel hairs on the back of their neck stand up some can actually see and talk to them. I personally have a lesser gift I can pin point them I can tell exactly where they are I am pulled to where they are. but not see them. but sometimes wish I could see them. then there are times when I think it would freak me out if I could see them. especially if I couldn't turn it off. as far as the 9/11 thing do you experience deja vu alot? your gift sounds like you might be a little psychic . and yes true psychics do exist and no they do not work at the psychic friends network. true psychics are out there day and night helping police solve crimes. not all police will use psychics but some do.. even the FBI

You are what I call a sensitive.. I come from a line of family who are sensitives, and besides myself they all had to be medicated.
My mother was in and out of mental wards because of her gifts, and as a child I watched this, thinking I would never subcomb to what she had. I fought it for a long time.. I didnt see ghosts but I could feel them. I was also able to leave my body when bad things happened, and could pull people into my dreams. It took me a long time to embrace my gifts, and I still fear them sometimes. I do energy work with massage and now I see my gifts paying off. My children are sensitives too. My 3 year old often has conversations with invisible people, and my 14 year old is able to sense things as well. This is what I suggest..
Find out what it is that this ghost wants. It has an agenda, if it's been following you. Dont think in terms of good or evil, it's not like that. Think more of what is good or bad for you. Find some way to meditate to quiet the voices inside your head. And be very happy that you have an awareness to gifts that was proclaimed in the bible as jesuses workings and miracles. We as spiritual creatures have many abilities. Some more blessed than others.
But by all means remember you are not crazy. That thought in itself will make you crazy, believe me it will. And as for others who say you are, then they dont know themselves very well and are frightened by you.. The rest will flock to you like a beacon in the night. Give it time you will see.. I wish you well

Well, if you believe in the supernatural, you might be psychic, however I might be able to explain the sleep paralysis, it actually occurs when you are asleep and your body disconnects communication with the part of your brain that conducts movement (this is so you do not actually act out your dreams)
if you happen to wake up at the time that your body is still disconnected, then you will experience sleep paralysis (which is quite frightening) in addition you may also see figures in the dark. this could explian alien abductions and it is widely known throughout the world by other names. In japan its called Kanashibari (means bound in chains) and in Norway its called Old Hag because you feel like there is an old woman sitting on your chest.
freaky huh? hope it works out for you and maybe you are special and receptive enough to communicate with the dead.

you have a few things going on here that are not connected ... but because they are all happening it makes it even more frightening
firstly i want to say that ghosts and spirit are not the same ....
if you have conversations with them , then that is spirit not ghosts
it is great if you can get anything validated though ... like knowing something about grandad that you couldnt possibly know etc
i would like to know about this woman .. does she speak also ?
if it is a two way thing then we can perhaps assume she is a guide for you ... as mediums would have guides due to their mediumship development ( they are like teachers )
the wide awake paralysis thing is very common though and in no way supernatural ...
it is chemicals released at the point of REM state that stop us acting out our dreams ... if we wake too soon or they are released to soon , we have what are like waking dreams
look up sleep paralysis and hynagogic state for more info on this
sounds like you are sensative and possible a medium
but there really is nothing to worry about because as you most likely know ... none of this can harm you xx
