I am Muslim and all of the Christians and Muslims I know are sweet, kind-hearted, caring and very loving. FYI, both religious are very similiar and don't teach any sort of violence towards other religions, so I don't know where the heck that came from.

Big kudos to people of moderate faith everywhere. There are moderate believers working everywhere to make life better for all kinds of people. These people are amazing, and as a non-believer, I wanted to give out a hallelujah for them. My question really is whether moderation - as shown by the flower of helpfulness to other human beings - is an evolved form of religion, compared to religion that sticks rigidly to an extreme reading of its texts, which appears to only ever make the news in a fairly negative way.

All thoughts welcome.

My dad said that we're not supposed to wear them because it's too materialistic or something, but is it actually in the Bible?

How come we as human beings are dumb enough to put restrictions on that? God only loves you if you're "one of us"? If you're straight, and only have sex once you're married, and believe certain things, and don't disagree with your religious leaders? If God has said he is love, how do we get away with developing the idea that God hates human beings who don't interpret his word the way we do?

Disclaimer - I'm not a believer, and I know about the whole "love the sinner, hate the sin" idea. I just want to know where we get the arrogance to enforce our interpretation of what God hates by shunning different people. Surely we should include everyone and let whatever God there is do the judging when and if it comes to judgment day?

Other than a procedural protection justice seems to be nothing more than codified vengeance. The wounded families query "Has justice been done" really means "Is the prisoner dead yet?" How has Hammurabi's law changed in all these centuries?" We still seek an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. We just go though a procedure in seeking these body parts.

How many are Catholic and attend Mas every Sunday and Holy Days?....Just wondering.....I do.....God Bless You

2006-11-05 02:22:40 · 15 answers · asked by ALICE B 3

I am Roman Catholic by birth and go to a catholic school. I also go to mass every weekend. I have absolutely no problem with God, and infact i am 100% believing that he exists. The thing i have a problem with is people that abuse his word. for example all the Christian Activists protesting against South Africa making same sex mariages legel. I meen its not like they are changing the religion, they are just changing the law - which in my opinion is nesessary, for the constitution. I also dont believe that the 1st books of Genisis are real - that they r folk tales, and that big bang-evolution etc actually was God's plan.

Can I still be catholic if i dont beilev all these things. As i said I totally belive that God created me, but i dont like this using the bible as an instruction manual.
Any opinions?

We have all been friends since we were four years old. We went to the same Catholic school for 12 years. They attended masses and they prayed the rosary. They know whole doctrine of the Catholic faith. I just dont understand how you could know so much and still think we worship false idols. Get this some of them are even talking about converting to being Catholic because they've more exposed to it than their own religion. Aren't they contradicting themselves? Still love em to death tho.

For my sister's art A-level, she's doing symbolism..... we've got quite a lot of symbols for Jesus, but she could probably do with some more.

Leviticus 18:22 states that we homosexuality is an abomination and yet we still tolerate it in the US instead of putting those who are guilty of it to death. We are tolerant of adultery and do not stone those who sin according to Leviticus 24: 10-16. Surely the word of God is eternal and unchanging.

We also abolished slavery and went against Leviticus 25:44, we also wear clothes made to several types of thread (cotton/polyester) Leviticus 19:19 and plant fields with more than one type of grain. Surely this should follow the bible more closely so that we can be welcomed back to the fold of God?

Just read this interesting post on another Q:

"Yes, I agree. There is only one true religion according to the Bible. The bible says you will know the false religions by their works. False religion

Meddles in war and politics.
Spreads false doctrine
Tolerates immoral sex."

Just to remind any people that believe the same thing, Ted Haggard had a weekly conference call with the president and we shalln't even go into his somewhat dubious sex life.

Does this mean his form of christianity was false?

Why are non-Muslims not able to go to Mecca? Isn't this discrimination?

On the religious and spiritual forum, alot of peole are posting questions that, in my opinion, are both rude and insulting to the Christian religion. We Christians have not posted any questions that would insult others, so why insult us? I am a strong believer in my faith, and I come to this forum to help other believers strengthen theirs. I don't think I should have to sift through a list of inappropriate questions to help someone out. Please, if you want to be rude, find another forum to post it on. If you have a serious question, feel free to ask for advise from me.

it's such a weird gift to talk about, without people thinking you may be prideful talking about it. I just know when I am around people that are sick, I can feel tingles in my throat if they have a sore throat without them even telling me they are sick, I just have that spidey sense. Before being a christian I thought God gave me that gift to avoid those people so I wouldn't get sick, now I am thinking something else?

My boss like to turn on a Christian radio station in the restaurant since we have a lot of people enjoy to listen it.
However, once a while some customer will come to me and ask me to turn it off and said I can't play in this station here!!

Do I have right to play a Christian music in the restaurant?

I tend to like, Charles Stanley, Hillsong Church, and Chuck Swindol. Any other ones that you might think I would like based on these three I already like, (not just one that you like personally).
