I am Roman Catholic by birth and go to a catholic school. I also go to mass every weekend. I have absolutely no problem with God, and infact i am 100% believing that he exists. The thing i have a problem with is people that abuse his word. for example all the Christian Activists protesting against South Africa making same sex mariages legel. I meen its not like they are changing the religion, they are just changing the law - which in my opinion is nesessary, for the constitution. I also dont believe that the 1st books of Genisis are real - that they r folk tales, and that big bang-evolution etc actually was God's plan.

Can I still be catholic if i dont beilev all these things. As i said I totally belive that God created me, but i dont like this using the bible as an instruction manual.
Any opinions?

Oh yea, by the way - that thing about not believing in Genisis was taught to mme by my religious education teacher (who i might add is one of the most religious people i know). I you say that she is not Christian then u had better take your nose out of that book that was writen over 2000 years ago (by people yea beilve it or not but we humans are the only ones that can write on paper thoughout history - walls dont count). Adam and Eve were used to explain to our annsester why we exist, because they didnt have Darwin.

If you "totally" believe in God, how can you NOT believe that He is not capable of giveing us a book containing facts about Him and the history of our origin? If you truly believe in an almighty God, then you have to believe that He is capable of leaving a book that reveals the truth about Him. I could go through the bible and show you scientific facts that the bible stated hundreds and even thousands of years before mankind ever thought to consider. If you don't believe that the book of Genesis is real, then how can you believe that any of it is real? Please don't take offense to this because I mean none, but so many people pick and choose what to believe and not believe about God, and in return they have broken one of the 10 commandments which is to create a god in their own image. Please consider what I say and may you find peace with this situation. I to once picked and chose what to believe about God for years, and then once I came to the knowledge that I have sinned against God and what the fine was for breaking His commandments, I repented and accepted Christ. It was after I done this that I started reading the bible and God revealed Himself to me through the words on those pages. I find truth after truth in that book we call the bible, and all the so called "contradictions" I used to argue and say were in there, well they started coming together once I began to actually study and understand the context of what was being said. If you need any information or would just like to hear my testimony, then please feel free to email me. Peace and blessings to you and yours.

To be a Christian you must go thruogh that step of giving up your attachment to sin (ask forgiveness) decide to remove the wall between you and God (pride and the desire to operate independantly of God and His guidance), believe you want to be God's friend (let Him inas a friend and guide). Pretty much have to do that everyday. The first time you do this with a sincere heart, immediately afterwards there should be an observable change inside you and usually a change people who know you, can observe which is the proof you did the deed. If there is not or was not a change that you actually knew was a change in who you are or were then it did not take. After that then those things you discuss in your question will be taught to you a little at a time. No reason not to have an I don't know file you carry with you. One of the visible changes refered to above usually is you like reading your Bible.

Could be God said bang, He does have a sense of humor. Gen. is not a complete story it is however a story that outlines an important truth. So far you have not seen it but like I said a good thing to carry with you is an I don't know file.

The Holy Bible Douay-Rheims Version

With Challoner Revisions 1749-52
1899 Edition of the John Murphy Company

IMPRIMATUR:
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, September 1, 1899.

Pope Damasus assembled the first list of books of the Bible at the Roman Council in 382 A.D. He commissioned St. Jerome to translate the original Greek and Hebrew texts into Latin, which became known as the Latin Vulgate Bible and was declared by the Church to be the only authentic and official version, in 1546.

The DR New Testament was first published by the English College at Rheims in 1582 A.D. The DR Old Testament was first published by the English College at Douay in 1609 A.D. The first King James Version was not published until 1611. This online DRV contains all 73 books, including the seven Deutero-Canonical books (erroneously called Apocrypha by Protestants). These seven books were included in the 1611 KJV, but not in later KJV Bibles.

The whole Douay-Rheims Bible was revised and diligently compared with the Latin Vulgate by Bishop Richard Challoner in 1749-1752 A.D. The notes included in the text were written by Dr. Challoner.

The DR Bible was photographically reproduced from the 1899 edition of the John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland, by Tan Books in 1971. Eventually, this edition was optically scanned to produce a large text file which this publisher used for creating this website, with the aid of text-processing software.

One important goal of this project was to preserve the original text "as is", without making any changes in the wording, because the original text had the Imprimatur of James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, dated Sept 1st 1899.

The text file was checked quite thoroughly by software written by the publisher for punctuation errors and verses out of order. The index was humanly checked for misspelled words and the corrections were made to the text. However, some spelling errors may still be present in the text. Many verses were out of order in the original file. These have been corrected.

Every effort was made to ensure that this online version is an exact match to the original printed version. No words were added or ommitted from the text, except for correcting errors caused by the scanning process. No words were rearranged. No verse numbers were changed, except in the case of Psalm 9.

Psalm 9 originally contained 21 verses and there were 2 versions of Psalm 10, numbering 1-18 and 1-8. This obviously caused a conflict, so it was decided to make the first Psalm 10 as the last part of Psalm 9 and renumber the verses 22-39. This retains the same numbering as all the Douay Rheims. Note, in the Protestant Bibles the numbering of Psalms 10 through 146 differs by one.

Well... the Bible is an instruction manual... kind of messed up due to man mucking about with it for the last 2000 yrs... And... I have great differences with the RC espacialy in their messing with it... I am not RC but I can tell you that you can not "believe" as you state here and still be RC... you are in oposition to the pope and the law and traditions of RC doctrin... I personaly do not concider RCs to be of The True Christian Faith anyway so it all dose not matte to God as no one of The RCs will enter Heaven through the teaching of RC doctrin and dogma any way.

you do not give much info, but from what you have stated you are not inline with the position of The True Christian Faith either... you are seeking a "religion" that will match your thinking... not seeking The Faith that is founded on God's way... The Way.
you will find a man invented"religion" eventualy, that will match your thinking... But it will not lead you to God and His free gift of Salvation... Only The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The head can offer you what you, and all of mankind, truly need.

I accept email questions concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith. 1 honest question receives 1 honest answer to the best of my ability

Then you can't call yourself a Christian. The bible tells us point blank, "Thy Word is Truth". Either you accept all the bible or none of it, there is no room for debate. Unfortunately, as long as your are a Catholic, you'll never hear the total truth because the Catholic cult never teaches the truth about salvation. If it did, the Pope would be out of a job.

You cannot believe in God if you call his Word a book of lies that you choose not to believe. If you think you happened by accident when a big ball of dust exploded, I feel sorry for you. There is no such thing as a big bang, that was made up by the atheists to try to explain God out of creation.

If you want to know who God is you need to study the Bible, otherwise some day you will be in for a really big surprise.

Am sorry if I hurt your feeling today, Basically yours is pure religion with emphasis on disbelief. Everybody believed in God, even the devil believed in God and tremble (as the scripture says). But, are they saved? They are not. Neither going to church does not mean you have no problem with God! In the old testament it says "When the sons of God present themselved to God satan also come." (The Book of Job) Believeing in God does not mean anything. It is obeying God Law and statutes that count more.

The book of Genesis was written by Moses, It is a revealed facts from God. What made you think Moses is a liar.

The Bible means (basic instructions before leaving earth). It was written by men of God inspired by God himself.

We are entitled to our won opinion, facts to facts, and there is a big difference between them.

Same Sex marriages violates God Law of Procreation. When greated human being, he made them MALE and FEMALE, not male and male, and woman and woman. He created only one man and one woman which mean they made for each other.

Christian are not changing the Law of God, neighter they are insinuating something that is not in the bible!

Yes you can, absolutely -you are a classic 'textbook' Catholic. You are religious, but you don't know why or even what you believe. But, by God, you are a Catholic-to many that is really all that matters.
I would say that you are right on target.

Getting truth from a bible is like trying to squeeze custard out of a weasel's butt. In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd
