The Bible doesn't condemn the wearing of jewelry, but rather the pride that is often times associated with the wearing of jewelry.

It doesn't say that. However, the Bible tells women to be modest in their dress. See Peter 3:1-5.

The reference in the bible concerns women who flaunt themselves with expensive jewelry, as if to show how blessed they are. The bible doesn't forbid jewelry, it speaks against making a spectacle of yourself with jewelry. The same goes for expensive clothes. These things can become an idol to people. All things in modesty is the key.

Well , the Bible says:...
" 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. "
1 Tim 2:9-10 (NIV)
Here Paul is teaching that the "Christian women" should dress modestly. Not like the ladies of the street.

1Ti 2:9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
1Ti 2:10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness--with good works is the scripture you are looking for, but the intent is not what is being put on the outside it is the attitude of the heart on the inside

That is just not true at all. The Bible doesn't say you're not supposed to wear jewelery. We are free in Christ to wear whatever we want.

It never says that although it implies that anything taken to excess is not a good thing. Also, it does say that items that are generally accepted as 'female' should not be worn by males and vice-versa.

Not true. He is most likely referring to God telling us not to be concerned about decorating our bodies because we should be improving our souls. Christians are to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. Our bodies are temples of Christ and should be cared for and treated with repect to our creator. If he tells you it is in the scripture...ask him where it is. God tells us not to believe everything others tells us that is in scripture unless they can show us the scripture. God warns that if anyone adds to or takes away from his word, he will add to or take away from our eternal life.
