Leviticus 18:22 states that we homosexuality is an abomination and yet we still tolerate it in the US instead of putting those who are guilty of it to death. We are tolerant of adultery and do not stone those who sin according to Leviticus 24: 10-16. Surely the word of God is eternal and unchanging.
We also abolished slavery and went against Leviticus 25:44, we also wear clothes made to several types of thread (cotton/polyester) Leviticus 19:19 and plant fields with more than one type of grain. Surely this should follow the bible more closely so that we can be welcomed back to the fold of God?

Jesus did not explicitly repeal any of the laws of the Old Testament, which stand for all time. God's word is not subject to repeal to suit the needs of the time. We are one Nation under God, which is a Christian God and if we proport to be Christians why do we not follow the letter of his laws?

The book of Leviticus contains the Mosaic Law that Jehovah gave to the nation of Israel. You can't go back to the Law of Moses because it is not binding on Christians today. However, there is enough bad going on this country to answer no to your question. Although homosexuality was prohibited under the Mosaic Law, it is still considered bad in the eyes of God. At 1 Cor. 610, it says that people who remain gay "will not inherit God's kingdom." In this country, homosexuality has been accepted by many as an alternative lifestyle. Clergymen are actively trying to have laws prohibiting same-sex marriage overturned. According to the Bible, homosexuality is wrong.
The Bible says that Christ's followers are to be no part of the world. See John 15:19. But many who consider themselves Christian meddle in the affairs of government; and their way of life reflect the world's standards and values.
True Christians do not go to war for any reason. But isn't this nation involved in warfare right now?
So, no; this is not a Christian nation.

Well, first off the U.S. is not a Christian nation, but not for the reason you declare. It is not a Christian nation because we have freedom of religion to worship whoever and whomever we want.
Now Christianity is the largest religion in the U.S. but to claim it a Christian nation would be to ignore our religious freedom.
The Old Testament was considered the Law of Moses or simply the law. To be under the law now we would be sacrificing bulls and goats.
The book of Hebrews talks about the Old Testament and the New Testament and that before a testament takes effect there has to be the death of the testator chapter 9 verse16 &17. So by that verse the death of Jesus put the New Testement into effect.
Hebrews Chapter 10 talks about the Old Testement and the practices fell short and thus the need for a new one. Verse 9 states plainy that He taketh away the first to establish the second.
Old Testement practices were never Christian because Jesus had not yeat been revealed. Christianity and the Christian form of worship started at the death burial and ressurection of Jesus.

This question is a little shakey gramatically. I think US claims to be a Christian nation, but evil will always lurk in the hearts and minds of non-religious and religious people (we are all human beings capable of sin) as long as we are alive and tempted. I personally believe that you should live your life in the today and not by a book that was supposedly written thousands of years ago. If we live life by ever word of the bible today we would be a completely Christian society, but that is not the case. So we must ask ourselves what benefits would we get from following the bible as it was supposedly written? An eternity with God? What if we don't want that?

Blimey I wouldn't want to upset you! Do you stand on a street corner on a soap box preaching?!
I'm not gay but believe people are born that way due to a mix up in the genes whilst developing in the womb. I won't go any deeper than that because I don't believe in god and don't need to go on about all the rubbish you are spurting out. You are obviously obsessive and unhappy with the world as it is. Live and let live I say. I live a happy and fulfilled life. I'm not rich by an means but I'm luckier in that I have my health and my children and keep smiling whatever the day brings. You need to get out more! All this worrying is bad for your health.
Just read all the other Answers and this is EXACTLY why I don't practice any religion or believe that god exists. You always fight and argue! Very sad.

There is no need for a "Christian Nation". The relationship between God and His people is one-on-one and personal. Human Political issues are opposed to God's Way.
except for the moral laws, the Law given to the Nation of israel is not binding on The Church today. There is still the prohibition on sin and the moral law covers that... That is why homosexual acts(not homosexuality) are sin. Sin is any act against The Will of God.

Answer the question yourself:
1. The land we live on belonged to the Indians. Our ancestors arrived poor and hungry. We asked them for some of their food and a place to rest. We killed our hosts; stole their gold; put them on reservations.
2. Everything God said would happen to Abraham's seed that requires punishments after 490 years we did.
3. We worked people for 400 years without pay.
4. We destroyed a nation according to prophet Jeremiah with smart bombs and the man who was our partner we are asking for his death.
5. We refused the St. Luis ship to enter the Ports in Florida and the south--the same ones that are pounded by hurricanes and tornadoes annually--she went back to Germany causing all but 4 Jews who on board to be killed.
6. We are among the nations Daniel forsaw in the Beast of Iron and Clay.

You're citing Old Testament verses about which there are new teachings superceding them in the New Testament.
One exception is the Leviticus condemnation of homosexual conduct -- with that one, the New Testament backs up and reaffirms the teachings of the Old Testament.

It started as a Christian Nation and it's slowly turning away completely away from the Lord. The top priority in this country about Elections are the War in Iraq when there is childrens and families being abused and neglected and started to death and so on.

Jesus fulfilled the law, He told us to pray for our enemies, those enemies are those who used to be stoned to death. All sin is an abomination to God. Much of the OT laws were Mosaic laws and Christ did away with those and gave us the 2 commandments, to Love God with all of our being and to treat others as we would have them treat us. Since all have fallen short of the glory of God, your argument is moot.

The United States is not a Christian Nation, although it was founded on a Christian base....the overall intent was not to make it a Christian Nation, but rather a diverse country where everyone had the right and freedom to explore the religion or faith of their choice without punishment.
