If you were to learn that something you said destroyed a person's faith, how would you feel?

I realize many of you think that religion, whether it is "organized" or based on personal beliefs, is a scam, or a crutch for the weak minded. I respect and understand your opinion if that's the way you think. I was way too.

If religion IS just a placebo invented to keep people in line and give them hope, does it serve a good purpose to try and destroy it?

Peace...

As historian Daniel Boorstin discusses in his bestselling "Seekers", sages or seers were replaced by the Prophets.

Seers were people who claimed to be able to predict future outcomes and as a result, had power in their tribe or community. The next step from there was obviously someone who didnt merely glimpse God's will, but actually was God's mouthpiece.

Real opportunists these "Prophets". I suppose if I existed in their day, I would be tempted to committ the same fraud once i understood what could be gained.

Both prophets and seers exists still exist today, which do you prefer?

I think not. No one will want to hold anything back, for no one will be ashamed or afraid of being misunderstood or unloved. Privacy is like clothes and like laws: necessary only because we are fallen. When sin is gone, all hiding will be gone.
Certainly there will be no private property, no "this is mine, not yours." Communism, like nudism and anarchism, dimly sees something heavenly, but by insisting on enacting it now, by human force, it turns the heavenly into the hellish, as when adult powers are given to infants.

in the ORIGINAL text of the Bible the passage read " Thou shalt not suffer a sorcerer to live" Sometime in the last 1500 years or so that got changed to "Witch". Hmm, wonder why? Cause Christains thought witches and warlocks were evil? Or was it the Catholic Church that had it changed? I wonder how many other passages in the Bible have been changed to appease the Catholics and Christians.......Makes ya think, doesnt it?

You must be somewhat into obe, metaphysics, sorcery, etcetera. Your will to switch should be strong. I'm quite open minded. Feel free to reply if you're more than just curious. My vehicle is pretty good-looking, yet I don't expect to get any fare responses.

of Lilith? I have also heard other broken stories, or actually just comments, that she was Adam's first wife. Where does this come from and is it in the Old Testament / Torah somewhere? I have read the Bible, but do not remeber reading about her. Any information appreciated.

If God exists, he is all powerful and thus capable of simulatenous revelation to all at the same time. Obviously, its inefficient and unfair to reveal himself to one region in a particular time frame and not another.

So, if Judiasm is true, Jews are the chosen people, and us non-jews are not. Now, this doesnt bother me, because Jews are not particularly violent, as a consequence of their religious beliefs, and therefore, I dont care if they believe in this absurd cosmic unfairness.

If Christianity is true, we still have the problem of slow regional delivery, despite the exahuastive efforts of missionaries.

If Islam is true, we have the same problems as mentioned above, along with the violent spread of religion, which immediately begs the question of "why would God even allow his religion to be spread by the means of violence?" For example, the very reason Islam even exists in India is totally due to massive Islamic invasion.

Evolution is so beautiful. Dont you agree

My ancestors stoutly maintained that it would be Dutch, of course. A rabbi I know has told me it will be Hebrew; every baby, he said, still remembers the language that will be restored in Heaven, the language of Eden, as evidenced by the fact that a child's first word is often abba ("Father" or "Daddy" in Hebrew).
It will be none of the languages that now divide us, which began at Babel. Babel and its babble will be reversed. This was foreshadowed at Pentecost, where distinctive languages were preserved, not muddled, yet each person understood everyone else. Perhaps there will be as many languages as there are individuals, and yet at the same time only one. What is sure is that there will be no misunderstanding. Language, like clothing, now both reveals and conceals, unveils and veils meaning. In Heaven, language, like clothing, will only reveal.

Spirits that linger in places for years and show themselves only to certain people, are they lost in between worlds or are they demons here to confuse and torment us?

often spout things like...
you can't possibly understand HIS way until you have opened your heart to HIM.

and all that instead of just answering the question. I'm not religious myself but I often "stick up" for religions by offering information and suggestions as to why a religious person might think the way they do.

I know that often the questions against religion are hostile or presumptious but why don't the answerers just prove it with words and explain themselves, hopefully ENLIGHTENING others. Giving the asker something to think about instead of copping out and annoying people more by basically saying "it just IS"

"my way is the right way.." and no more information is exactly the kind of attitude that prompts the questions and hostility in the first place.
