If you were to learn that something you said destroyed a person's faith, how would you feel?
I realize many of you think that religion, whether it is "organized" or based on personal beliefs, is a scam, or a crutch for the weak minded. I respect and understand your opinion if that's the way you think. I was way too.
If religion IS just a placebo invented to keep people in line and give them hope, does it serve a good purpose to try and destroy it?
Peace...

Hey guy, your question kind of reminds me of The Matrix, because everybody is tuned into the Matrix and they are so happy. I am all for leaving them plugged into the Matrix because they will just be mad and sad and never glad.

You may consider me a Troll but that is not true. When you think a troll is working please consider the following.
When you ask a question you can expect an answer.
If you ask a question about religion you can expect answers you don't like.
It's one of the truths of the ages. I am an Atheist, not so much because I believe there is NO God but that I see no evidence to indicate there is one. Most religious people have a real problem when talking to me because:
I was born Methodist
I was raised Presbyterian
I was ordained Universal
and now I am an Atheist.
Most, not all but most, find themselves in well over their head when they start spouting Bible verses to me. Generally I am more knowledgeable than they are. That seems to bother some people. Perhaps you are one of them. For that I am sorry but YOU did ask the question.

There is a significant difference between hating god and not believing in him.
Religion is fine when it acts as an opiate for the masses. However, it is not as fine when people begin to use it as justification for them imposing their specific beliefs onto other people, using it as an excuse for violence, deliberately ignoring and arguing against science, illegalising various forms of happiness (gay marriage), spreading their irrational beliefs under the guise of 'education' (ID in schools), and lobbying against the use of stem cells to potentially find cures for millions of people against horrible diseases and inflictions.

I have the right to voice my opinion, if what I say destroys another person's faith, well, they must not have had a lot of faith at all.

If the professed faith is true, the statements of an anonymous person shouldn't matter. They are just trying to get a rise out of you.
Don't get upset or discouraged. Pray for them.

Well said and good point. I believe, however, that they think the way that they because they want to help or educate, but they really want to argue and be noticed.
