often spout things like...
you can't possibly understand HIS way until you have opened your heart to HIM.

and all that instead of just answering the question. I'm not religious myself but I often "stick up" for religions by offering information and suggestions as to why a religious person might think the way they do.

I know that often the questions against religion are hostile or presumptious but why don't the answerers just prove it with words and explain themselves, hopefully ENLIGHTENING others. Giving the asker something to think about instead of copping out and annoying people more by basically saying "it just IS"

"my way is the right way.." and no more information is exactly the kind of attitude that prompts the questions and hostility in the first place.

I agree. And I really can't stand it when they assume that atheists and agnostics and deists don't "know or understand the bible" or "they can't read it, so they can't understand". This atheist has 2 bibles, the Amplified Bible and Nelsons Student Bible. I've read them both thoroughly, cover to cover. All they can do is parrot back "scriptures". I'd love for someone to answer just ONCE without quoting the book - come up with an answer on their own, in their own words.

I have had that same reaction and it was annoying to me until I realized that these people just weren't as informed as i thought they were. So the more questions I asked the more hostile they got because they want to be called religious and informed but they know as much as I do. Well, If we want the right answers as with anything else we have to read and explore. Try the Bible it's a great book. Good luck.

As a Pagan I often ask the same question. We acknowledge that belief in the Gods and Goddesses is a matter of faith, it is not subject to empirical demonstration. To me the facts of our faith are self evident, for example, what would be the effect on society if everyone acted with no regard to the consequences of their actions? If it is acceptable to rape someone Else's children, then it is acceptable for someone to rape yours. If not, then why not? That is a basis for most morality. Don't do something to someone else that you don't want them to do to you. Eight words the Wiccan rede fullfill, "So it harm none, do what you will."

As a Christian I try to answer questions without being rude. I would rather not answer or tell you I don't know than be rude. This site (and most I've been on),people are just so rude! To me,this is not the way to spend the word. If I asked a question on here, and people(Christians) were rude,I would not go to any church!!!!!

you can't possibly understand HIS way until you have opened your heart to HIM.

those people think, of course that they have understood HIM. The ONLY way to GOD.

Lots of people are into religion because they lack authority over other people or anything. or because they don't have enough capabilities to be respected or whatever...those people obviously aren't very intelligent because if they give you this instead of an answer they obviously haven't even understood the question.

Christianity is the right religion for them. For god understands them simple minds and will bless them most, like he says in the bible. lets hope so, they really need it. thats why they follow the light, because they need it.

9 times out of 10 people want to be empowered. I think you may have a better view of true spirituality than most just by being nonjudgmental. The path is narrow not narrow minded.
Peace!!!

I'm a religious person and I too hate it when I meet people who think that God is mysterious.....if he is so mysterious why would he give us the Bible... he outlines everything he is, all his plans for the present and future in this huge book written for our guidance.

People spout those lines when they aren't educated properly about the bible. Nothing is a mystery if you read the bible and THINK.

well, in all things in life.. u can only understand it if u have opened ur mind to it. its like learning to play piano. u think u will understand it when u dont really want to know it?

Like in my case, i opened my heart to god bec i realized that life is nothing without Him. so i think it depends on the experience of a person. if u can carry on without him, then u do well.. but i am weak and needed God.. so here I am .. happy to know God.
