"My most profound feelings have remained always solitary and have found in human things no companionship ... The sea, the stars, the night wind in waste places, mean more to me than even the human beings I love best, and I am conscious that human affection is to me at bottom an attempt to escape from the vain search for God"

St. Augustine
Bertrand Russell
C.S. Lewis
Soren Kierkegaard
Adolf Hitler
Martin Buber

There is so much needless conflict (verbal and physical) caused because 'we' (as inhabitants of the same planet) seem collectively unable or unwilling to admit that whatever we believe could well turn out to be wrong.

If you genuinely care about other people, whatever your religion or beliefs, can you not admit this?

I'd really like to have responses from people of every religion, saying that the religion they follow may not be the truth.

I'll start:

I do not believe in any orthodox religion - and I may be wrong.

Over to you...............

Previously I asked the question is separation a worthy opponent?

The body of Christ remains separated into denominations, and often here I see questions about doctrines everyone knows cause Christians to be separated.

Here it states as in many other places in the NT separate is wrong.

Do you just accept this state of affairs caused by a few who desire to weaken and control us, is that not the desire of the prince of the air.

Will you continue in this weakened state.

Is separation a worthy opponent or do you accept defeat.

I'm getting sick and tired of this claim that us poor humans know nothing and aren't capable of knowing much about the universe and its origins.

Given that we evolved to take up a niche on the African Savannah I think we are doing amazingly well both scientifically and technically (though a bit too well on the technology front maybe). In the last 200 years we have worked out one hell of a lot from our own origins to the origins of the Universe.

Who here thinks that it is actually quite amazing that we have managed to do this, isn't that something to be proud of?

Why would you choose to worship this monster you call "all loving" when in his stupidity, the creating of mankind, he placed many different characteristics in which we would judge one another by causing more hate in this world than any other thing known to man? PREJUDICE is the biggest obstical to progree in Man using his intellect to make this world a happy continuum. Diversity and RELIGIOUS difference is what has stood in the way of PEACE & Progress for ages. ACCEPTANCE comes when one relinquishes their own affliction which has predominately been the passing of what man teaches to his children-Jesus Mohammed Buddah whoever all spoke of class distinction rich and poor-BUT THE CONSTITUTION is the first document that states ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL-and yet you will chose YOUR religious belief over THE AMERICAN WAY-Your religion tells you to conform to your God or Burn-THAT'S A LOVING GOD? THAT'S A Merciful God? You worship a "Jealous God"-so Mr. Perfect has character flaws- BIGGOTRY

We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see a universe marvelously arranged an obeying certain laws, but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysteriou force that moves the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza's pantheism, but admire even more his contributions to modern thought because he is the first philosopher to deal with the soul and the body as one not two separate things.
