yet they represent up to 10-16 percent of the general population.

sample : "of those executed for murder 65% were
Catholics, 26% Protestants, 6% Hebrew, 2% Pagan, and less than 1/3 of 1%
non-religious."

Now I thought that it was us non religious folk who were the ones with no sense of morality yet we make up a tiny proportion of the prison population compared to our general numbers.

To put it simply

69 % of the US population is christian and 84 % of the prison population is christian yet 10-16 % of the US population is non religious yet they ony represent 0.3 % of the prison population.

Why do you think this is so ?

Surely all the "nasty" secular people should have a disproportionate amount in prisons.

I like to focus on the good verses and not the ones where God is stoning, murdering, or allowing entire nations to be raped and pillaged, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

I am and atheist and you should be too. That said, why aren't you christians who call themselves "fundamentalists" and adherents to the letter and spirit of bible trying to murder me? Aren't you disobeying god by letting me live?

To be a disciple of Christ one must let go of this existence and seek the Kingdom of God. Jesus requires Love and Mercy and its application which is forgiveness. Any religion that requires you to judge others results in condemnation and is NOT what Jesus taught. Why do so many Christian denominations teach the opposite of what Jesus taught?

I made a pledge to a church months ago to try and give them a certain amount each month. I later had a falling out with said church and no longer attend.... they sent me a letter saying I owed them the amount I wrote down for each month of three years??

I signed a paper.

Do I owe it? Is this legal?

It's a lot and I'm panicking so please, only intelligent "sure" answers.

Doubt

You doubt in the positivity of people, in the goodness of people. You
don't doubt in the negativity, or badness, in the people. Do you? Have
you ever doubted in somebody's anger toward you? Have you ever said,
"Is she really angry at me? I don't believe it." But if someone says,
"I
love you," you say, "Really? Sure? Truly? Then prove it to me!"

Post1: even something with a "chance" that seems "very small" to us (thinking on a human time-scale) can still easily occur when given billions of years.

Post2: There is a 1 in 14 billion chance that somebody will win the lottery, but it happens most weeks. Explain that. As there are only 60,000,000 people in the country, and not all buy a ticket, it should be impossible.

Actual odds: 1 chance in 10 for a random mutation to happen. 100 changes needed to make a new protein or function that can be selected. Odds are 1/10 times 1/10 for 100 multiplications or 1 chance in a googol.

One would need Billions of Billions of universes to have enough particles to equal a googol. In time scale, this is not billions of years, but an eternity. If one then tries to consider a 3 billion line strand of dna, then the probability is infinitesimally small. It is not probable. This is not using actual probabilities, but very favorable 1 chance in 10.

Any element of chance is unlikely.

Alright, I have been going to a christian small group for some time now. Many of the people there are my friends and is just a cool time to hang out and chill. The leader of the small group asked me a question doing with Jesus,"where are you in your walk with christ" I shared my thoughts and the way i believe(i'm a second generation Jew) All the sudden they all went wild! defending thereselves and trying to prove to me that Jesus is the Messiah. I mean i believe that Jesus is real and that he had his place in history, but i don't beleive he fulfilled all the prophecies..
I have felt very uncomfortable in this small group,i went there to learn, not to be judged. They seemed to accept me for who i was and now they look at me like i have 5 heads. I just don't really know what to do in this situation.I guess im just looking for feedback and some of your opinions. Thank you~
