That's a nice idea, but in Christianity you shouldn't put blinders on. You have to believe in it all, not just the nice, candy sweet verses. I have an idea. You could do a similar Bible like the Jefferson Bible where he took out every verse that wasn't about Jesus. You could take out every verse that isn't about love. Now that would be something.

how about 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself; is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails...." Also 1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." Or John 15:13 "Greater love has no one then this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." Or Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins." or Levitcus 19:18; Matthew 22:39 "Love your naighbor as yourself" or Deuteronomy 6:5;Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." Or, Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27 "Love your enemies." And of course, John 3:16 "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlating life."
Is that enough?

My favorite is 1 John 4:7-12 and 20-21.
And BTW, your approach is perfect. In the Bible there's wheat and chaff, and you obviously know the difference.

I'm not quite sure what you're after, you seem angry and possibly you have a misunderstanding of what God is trying to get across to you. None of us likes parts of the Old Testament referring to wars, killing, etc., but it is the history of our world, our culture. However, there are so many verses on love ~ one that stands out to me is 1Corinthians, Chapter 13. It is God's word to us on how to love one another. I also like Ephesians, Chapters 5 & 6 ~ also, the entire book of Song of Songs is a love story. Enjoy your reading ~ God sacrificed His Son because He loves you sooooooooo much!! :)

1 Corinthians 13:3-13
3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
