eted translation of an interpreted story passed down through generations of interpreted story telling which might be symbolic or poetic or just a parable or even somebody's dream. Then YOU have to interpret THAT into both or either ancient and modern context.
If you read this question to the end and can honestly answer... I'm sure somebody will... "what was the question?" ... how on EARTH are you gonna get the end product of all those interpretations in any perspective whatsoever? PLEASE don't say with the help of the Holy Spirit as He has a miserable record, even inciting some to torture heretics and unbelievers and 'witches'.

Is life truly a gift?

I think of birthdays, christmas and other occasions when we are given gifts. If we don't like the gift, we can return it to the store.

If that is the case, why is suicide frowned upon so much. Is it not just a way of returning a gift that you don't want.

I am not for suicide as I know it has horrible effects on family members that live, but as a philosphical question, if one wanted to return the gift of life, should they not be allowed to?

I've heard stories where no person on earth didn't come to earth before telling God that yes indeed he/she wants to come to earth...in other words it was our free will. That may be, but how many times have you been asked what you want as a gift and after you receive it, you realize it's not that great and want to return it.

I don't consider life a gift. I do consider it a chore, a burden that I have to deal with.

Would love to hear some thoughts on this.

Thank you

And if so, would you be willing to do something about it by making an effort to ask questions that embrace instead of divide?

What are possitive aspects about the other group's religion?

I'll start: I love the devotion that Muslims give to God by praying five times a day every day.

What the Christians say about all other prophets that God sent for humans.
Why is it Jesus is so unique that no other prophets since Adam had become one like Jesus. Do Christians aware that Moses spoke directly with God the time he received Torat? But Moses is not God.

Why should Jesus be a God in the form of human?

Christians???? Why Bible incidents are so filthy?
I am a born Christian...but when I read Old Testament, I read all about people marrying many wives including their maids. Laying with own mother, father-in-law and sister-inlaw. Masturbation. Murder, jealousy, cheating etc.,....why all these things happened though God was close with them?
I don't want to hurt Christians....I like to know about it.

My 5-year old daughter asked me this the other day.

One of our cats died and she told me - it's OK Daddy, he's in cat heaven now. There's a people heaven for people, and a cat heaven for cats.

She thought for a while, then she remembered that earlier in the day we'd squished a bug, so she asked me - Daddy, is there a bug heaven too?

I said - I don't know, honey.

In truth, I don't believe there's a bug heaven. I find it difficult to believe there's a cat heaven. So my real question is - what makes you think there's a people heaven?

By your estimation, if a person was disintegrated by a direct hit by an atomic bomb, would that unfortunte individual's soul be disintegrated as well? Is the soul comprised of subatomic material? Is God Subatomic?

I see why your so peaceful, Mainly because Christ was. But you need to Understand Christ was not God.

Yes - Christ told Peter to put away the sword, thats only because Christ was supposed to die.

Christ said not everyone thats claims Jesus as lord will enter Heaven. Only those that serve God. Proof

Christ said no one know the day and hour of his return but God. Proof

Not once in my whole have have I seen a verse where Jesus said he is God. Not 1

to the R&S community of things you've said many many times on here, what would it say?

The rules of this game: No "my religion is right duh" posts. I'm looking for more factual things, like the true nature of x religion that nobody pays attention to or that this religion actually came from that religion--that sort of thing.

A little hypothesis I've been testing... I'm beginning to conclude that religious questions that invite inflammatory, dogmatic, or "cut-n-paste" responses are answered far more enthusiastically by the theists than those which require reasoning, critical examination of belief systems, or which pose logical contradictions that can't easily be dismissed with dogma.

In fact, it seems the questions that garner the most response are the ones that most obnoxiously challenge the systems of belief which the faithful are supposedly so certain of.

The logical conclusion is that theists feel most threatened by casual "name calling", and "mud slinging", then genuine inquiry, examination and debate, which leads one to inevitably conclude that...

Theists suffer from INSECURITY.

I'll start: I think that the Wiccan/Pagan/Druid love of nature is a wonderful trait.

I did it a year a go and I didn't know what I was thinking, since then I've been thinking about it and I suddenly felt extremely guilty. I feel so bad still and I want to go confess to my pastor soon . . . it really tears up my heart that I would do that, without pressure at all, just for fun.

God forgive what I have done.

There is a new book out saying that the White House was using the evangelicals for votes. No surprise there I suppose.

Privately they called them "nuts" and "goofy".
