I killed an tortured a bird for fun and I feel terribly sorry for it, am I going to hell.?

Question

I did it a year a go and I didn't know what I was thinking, since then I've been thinking about it and I suddenly felt extremely guilty. I feel so bad still and I want to go confess to my pastor soon . . . it really tears up my heart that I would do that, without pressure at all, just for fun.

God forgive what I have done.

One life is equal to the other and I am sorry for all the other animals . . . (mostly insects) that I killed, most of them bullied, like spiders and ants.

Ah jeeze this is hurting my heart.

I haven't killed any other animals other then this one bird and insects. Well there's another bird that I killed but it was when I was really young and I accidentally killed it when I was giving it a bath. I was young and didn't know about dying back then.

I am a Catholic.
I believe that these men are the messengers of god and they are our medium. They spread god's teachings and commit their life for him.

That's why I believe in confession of the sin to a pastor.

There you said it. If you meant it, and It sure sounds like, then you have completed the final step in becoming a saved christian.

Step one is to realize that you have done wrong
Step two is to realize the penalty for wrong doing is Hell, that is something you deserve.
Step three is to also know that Jesus came to earth, never did anything bad, and died on the cross, so he took your sin and the penalty with it.
Step four, you have just done. It's Repenting your sins to God and Asking for forgiveness. This is accepting the free gift of salvation, and It's not hard at all, I think you just did it without even realizing!

So yeah, Forgive and Forget. Satan has nothing on the murder of the bird anymore. So if you haven't already, confess everything to the Lord wail you are at it. (No you don't have to name each specific sin to God) After all, if Satan has any rechord whatsoever, of anything wrong you have done, you're outta luck on judgement day!

I didn't know how Strong of a Christian you are, so I went pretty basic. Hopefully some of that was new to you :)

tirrwin: No you are not "going to hell" because you tortured and killed a bird. Remember; GOD is in the S A V I N G business not the tormenting business! When we do wrong, we are normally, bothered with a guilty conscience. We all make mistakes and I have made some real - real B A D ones ! God has forgiven me and HE will FORGIVE Y O U too !!! Now; relax - lighten up a bit !!! Go and do something fun or have a rest if you are tired. God doesn't go around "getting" people or we all would be dead by now !!! HE LOVES ALL HUMANS !!!

This doesn't sound normal to me. The fact you enjoyed torturing something is sick. This is how serial killers start. Forget the pastor, go talk to a shrink.

TO MR. CHICKEN EATER - Yes, God put some animals here for food...but a hunt to sustain one's life and torturing a bird for fun are two different things. While we are dominant over animals we also must have some respect for them as living things. As for your thoughts on Jesus...hmmmmm interesting.

I'm an agnostic. I don't really care about religions. But since you have this Judeo-Christian guilt problem, I suggest you read the Sermon on the Mount.

It's so hot, I'd suggest it to anybody of any religion. And yes, it's in the Christians' Holy Book. So look there.

It's a quick easy read, that can last a life time.

Confess to pastor if it makes you feel any better.
Do penance.
Put out a bird feeder and tend to it.

Be kind to animals for the rest of your life.
Don't even step on an ant if you can help it.

Please let go of the guilt. It's tearing you apart and doing nothing constructive in your life. Everything that happens in life is actually an opportunity for us to learn. Instead of spending most of your energy and time making life better for yourself and those around you, it's being wasted on guilt. Please look at it as a learning experience. It teaches you now to value life. From now on, cherish life. Be kind to all animals and people. You will be forgiven and not be judged. You will not go to hell.

As we go through like we all make mistakes.
We do things that we shouldn't, or wish we hadn't.

Hopefully we learn not to do them again.

It's easy to do the wrong things & some times is hard to do the right thing. But we ask for forgiveness & the strenght to do the right things

Killing animals isn't a sin. why are you going to confess to your pastor, he's only a man and cannot forgive your sins, only God can forgive your sins. Confess to God. Trust in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.

what makes the pastor think that he has clean ur sins?

How do they know?

If God is mercy, u just have to pray directly to him, he listens everything.
