My 5-year old daughter asked me this the other day.

One of our cats died and she told me - it's OK Daddy, he's in cat heaven now. There's a people heaven for people, and a cat heaven for cats.

She thought for a while, then she remembered that earlier in the day we'd squished a bug, so she asked me - Daddy, is there a bug heaven too?

I said - I don't know, honey.

In truth, I don't believe there's a bug heaven. I find it difficult to believe there's a cat heaven. So my real question is - what makes you think there's a people heaven?

You might want to look for the book A Travel Guide to Heaven by Anthony DeStefano. It answers all of the questions that kids (and the kids in all of us) want to know about heaven. He kind of puts together all of the hints that we have in the Bible about what heaven is going to be like and paints a pretty joyful picture. It is an easy and fun read. Basically, the answer to your daughter's question is that bugs will be heaven, but it won't be just a bug heaven. It will be the same heaven that we are all in. God didn't create bugs, or any living thing, just to throw them out. You can see from the ark that he had Noah build that God plans to save the animals. When heaven is described in the Bible, there are trees in heaven. Why would God care more about trees than he does about animals? Of course there will be animals in heaven.

Well, I was raised Catholic and we were taught that only people go to heaven, not animals and bugs. I cried when my cat died since God thought my cat didn't have feelings, wasn't worthy, not good enough, etc... I believed she had a soul.

No one has proof so I can't say there really is a people heaven even but it's nice for kids to believe anything that makes them happy. They also like Santa and the Easter bunny. Most religions were formed to answer the unanswerable.

Not to say that I don't believe in something.. just not sure what.

I believe that all sentient beings have souls, and will reincarnate. They will go to heaven or reach salvation when their purpose is fulfilled on earth and they realize God. This applies to all beings, which I see as eternal. But I don't think one is eternally a bug, nor a cat. I think one is primarily a consciousness who takes on whatever body is appropriate to that incarnation.

I would just like to add that if there is a bug heaven, and I somehow ended up there, that'd be like hell for me! I'm scared of bugs!

Must have meant Bug tussle ....actually i think it's just a typical excepted means of offering consolation in a bad time . much like chin up or take it on the chin or that's the way the cookie crumbles ....has nothing to do with cookies really or heaven other than as a comfort.

We have enslaved the rest of animal creation and have treated our distant cousins in fur
and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were to formulate a religion, they would
depict the Devil in human form."

Just a thought. I am fully aware that this neither contradicts your beliefs nor validates them but does offer something else to consider.

I am of the opinion that it would be supreme arrogance to believe that we would be the only one's admitted to Heaven assuming of course, there actually is one.

"The noblest work of God? Man. Who found it out? Man..."

Mark Twain.

You have my abject apologies with regards to my complete failure to offer a better answer but I simply cannot find myself able to produce one. I can only hope that this helps.

Could bug heaven be the same place as people hell? Think how convenient this would be for ticks, fleas, mosquitos, etc.

I personally just think that we die. And that's that. And everything is black. We don't feel or anything.

Unless we have different lives and there are stories about that but we do not know if that is true and I have my doubts.

of course, why not? People are often times resurrected as bugs, especially cockroaches.

No. I was stung by a bee, and asked mother why god make them, she said that was gods only mistake, and smiled.
