There is a new book out saying that the White House was using the evangelicals for votes. No surprise there I suppose.

Privately they called them "nuts" and "goofy".

This doesn't surprise me at all. Fortunately I am not an evangelical. The churches are always used at election time. Politicians want the vote, can promise anything before they are elected, and conveniently forget until the next election. It makes sense to engage the church because the people will do as they are told by the church.

Well it seems she was honest with you. So maybe she started out using you, but it is possible that she has gotten to know you and has fallen in love. How do you feel about her? Getting used isn't a good feeling but at least she told you. Figure out what your feeling are for her and go on with your life. Good luck.

No, though I am not an evangelical. I could care less what someone calls me - I vote according to the issues I study and make my choice. Who cares what someone else thinks?

Well, I'd use evangelicals for votes, too. When Christians are the supermajority in the country, of course you do what it takes to get their votes.

Yea, I think they did mention that. Even the president mentioned a couple of times that he was looking for a 'Third Awakening of Bible Believers'... he wants them to vote for the Neo-cons again. Hey, it might happen. What did P.T. Barnum say again?

they admitted to that on the news after the election--called it targeting key groups of voters and admitted that they had sent religious propoganda out to just the christians--they should have known they were being used

The whitehouse will of course deny this, and the nutters will happily accept such denials.

I don't doubt that for a second and it is the reason I didn't vote for him in 04. Thanks for the link.
