And if so, would you be willing to do something about it by making an effort to ask questions that embrace instead of divide?

(((I'm not claiming to have a perfect record on this issue. Not at all. But it came to me today as I was asking questions that all this fighting isn't getting us anywhere.)))

About the McDonald's question: Mea Culpa! I have already freely admitted that I'm not perfect on this issue... At least I'm being honest about my failings. I could have made a new profile and came on here pretending to be squeaky clean...

I agree. Healthy debate is awesome but not when it leads to people getting offended. To be honest, that's why I love the off-topic questions that float by every now and then. They technically don't belong in this section, but a lot of times, they're ones that Christians, atheists, Muslims, and everyone else can ALL agree on.

You made this statement earlier - and now it sounds like you are back peddling dear.

Atheists: Why do you eat at McDonalds when little children are starving in Africa?
Why do you spend money on luxuries instead of giving every single extra dollar to the poor and needy?

And think a better question is: would you (as the asker of this question) be willing to do something about it by making an effort to ask questions that embrace instead of divide?

If you are such a magnanimous individual why don't you take the first step towards love and less anger? Just saying that you are not perfect puts you in a catagory with the rest of planet. Why don't you lead by example?

Peace, out!

It can never be a happy place. I for one will never believe in a god and I feel 100% that it is a scam for power and money and maybe not in that order. So I will always do my part to keep anyone I can from being scammed. It is the only right thing for anyone to do. We must help each other and by showing people when they are getting brainwashed and ripped off / scammed I feel I have done my part for the human race.

It is just a matter of time anyway till marriage is a thing of the past because it is a man made thing for control and religion will soon follow to it's doom. And I only wish it could be during my life time. Would be nice to die and know the scam and brainwashing and deaths and evil is over. Peace on earth will only be achieved by ending Religion.

The topic of religion usually brings out the worst and the best in people. For some reason the people who do not believe in God wants to prove that He does not exist and the believers could not even conceive of the idea that He doesn't. Everyone has a right to his own beliefs and am not going to be angry with someone who doesn't believe, but I also have the right to my beliefs and would hope that others can except them without trying to change my mind. I do my best by just not getting into a debate with anyone about religion. God be with you

Wow, did the McDonalds you eat for lunch give you not only heartburn, but a change of heart? You are a typical christian, attack when you want to and then switch on a dime to "love one another" once you have gotten your daily dose of hatred. I suppose that kind of maneuverability is easier when you don't have a spine." As for making Y!A a more sypathetic place....I don't do lost causes. Sold my tamborine. Besides. I find that most often, the people so desperately in need of enlightenment prefer the dark. Not that the dark isn't good, but I'm not talking about any other nuance of darkness than the uneducated hypocritical brand.

As long as we speak of Jesus & follow Him, there will be hate. In Matt 10:22 it say's

"All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved"

We do have to show Christ's love at all times. And when we come in here it's difficult at times not to show anger with the hurtful things others say about the Lord we love so completely. But yes we need to make more of an effort to be more kind.

Sorry, but I think it's the world that needs more love and less anger, and I think it's religions which are not giving the world what it needs. What you see here is just a reaction towards that. I'm not about to bury the hatchet with an enemy that doesn't mean to stop the war. Sorry, but that's impossible.

It is often the thorn in our chest that defines how we react and tests our character.

Thus freedom of speech lets us be heard and challenged. As a Christian the loathing and hate we encounter is nothing compared to what Jesus suffered on our behalf.

If you are looking for a Christian friendly forum seek an online church group in Yahoo Groups......

Don't spend too much time in the comfort zone, you need to test the waters at times and see that you are truly being molded and made to be more Christ like.

God's blessing.....
