a lot of religions have uniforms for women, like christain nuns and orthodox jewish women who shave their heads and wear wigs. Why do people pick on Muslim women so much that they can't see their own cultures. i,m a 14 yr old white girl and i live in an area with about 20 per cent muslims and they are so well behaved and friendly and i think the girls look beautiful in their scarves, they have interesting shops and wonderful food and a culture thousands of years older than ours. There are, i think, one billion muslims in the world today but so many people imagine Bin Lardin and his sisters every time they see a muslim, seems the same as me seeing Jim Jones and his itzy bitzy cult everytime a see a white person. i'm young, but please i have to say, and i dont wont to sound disrespectful but grow up please.

And under what circumstances?

We simply want to uphold the principle that religion doesn't belong in the government and the government doesn't belong in religion. The best way to keep in tune for this is to not endorse any religion and keep a secular society. This means that "in god we trust" should be taken out of our currency, yet this doesn't mean we're trying to impose our Atheists belief. If we did, we would have our coins say "There is no god to trust." We're trying to move things into a middle ground where neither your or our opinion is endorsed.

So my question is: Why does this "moving to the middle ground" notion that I have is interpretted by you as trying to drive things into a godless state? If you disagree to the "middle ground," what do you suggest as a realistic alternative to keep all parties at "peace"?

Matt 21:4–5
Matthew creates a ludicrous scene: Jesus stunt-rides two animals into Jerusalem. The only possible purpose Matthew could have had in changing Mark's straightforward narrative into such a spectacle is to demonstrate that Jesus fulfilled prophecy to the letter. Obviously, Matthew's Jesus can fulfill this prophecy in this odd manner only because once again Matthew rigs the story with details cribbed from the "fulfilled" prophecy. This bizarre scene shows us to what extremes Matthew was prepared to go to portray Jesus as the fulfiller of prophecy.
Mark 14:10–11 tells of Judas' approach to the high priests and his offer to betray Jesus, for which treachery the priests promise to pay him. When Matthew rewrites this brief scene, he has Judas demand the money up front and specifies the amount of money agreed on by Judas and the priests: thirty silver pieces (Matt 26:14–15). Mark never mentioned the amount, nor do Luke or John. Where did Mathew get this info? hint:O.T.

Matt 4:14–16

To position Jesus as fulfiller of prophecy, Matthew chooses descriptive details from Isaiah and crafts them into elaborations on the reports and clues that he found in Mark. The reason Jesus' movements match the words of prophecy so closely—though not exactly—is that Matthew has derived Jesus' itinerary from those very words.

Anyone eager to learn ever attended this sessional program?. Ive been to a few (as an open minded atheist trying to fathom out the mind of someone less secure !) and as yet have not found anything whatsoever remotely related to the existence of a 'soul' .
Al it seems to be is a bible session, which doesnt do much other than spout a few old stories out.

And to the twatty people who would be tempted to suggest I'm sitting on the fence just because I wanted to go to this programme I'd just like to say that its the openminded-ness of an atheist who has the ability to look wider than just his/her non beliefs that enable him/her to be happy to learn about even the loopy aspectsx of human life. I doubt if many believers would want to attend a 'unconvert yourself' programme purely to learn !!!!!

According to most of the answers the only thing the robot lacks was a soul. Can anyone describe what a soul is?

I believe a soul is who you are as an individual, your intelligences, free will and love is what I consider a soul to be.

What is a soul to you?

I know that I can just look on google.com, but when I do all that I get is the traditional picture of the Wheel of Life. I don't want the traditional picture of it... I'm looking for a different perception of it as far as a drawing goes. I'm trying to find a picture of it that would make for a good tattoo... So if anyone has any ideas or knows of any places that I could look, let me know!
