you have a very valid point. I have long wondered why preachers and ministers of the so called religions of this world say that CHURCH is the most important thing. I have pulled away from organized religion. I live my life well, i believe that there is a god, but i do not know his name, his face, which book is his, or what he truly commands. Rather i believe that if i have faith in the goodness and trueness of him, that he will come to save me.
Church won't save your soul, Faith will.

Let us first lay down the facts. There is a God. Then, which God is true? Only Jesus claimed that He is the Son of God. And only his father foretold the future correctly. No other religion ever did that. So, we can say They are the True God. So, by following His Commandments and his ways, as written in the bible, we can be assured of salvation as Jesus promised.

Salvation is more than just believing a bunch of facts about Jesus. It's about putting our trust in Him and giving our allegiance to Him. It's much more than just knowing a bunch of things ABOUT Him. It's about knowing Him personally. Unfortunately, too many people sit in church on Sundays and think they're doing God's will when in fact all they're doing is taking up space in the pew and not obeying Him the rest of the week.

Jesus really existed. Even our calendar acknowledges his existence with BC before Jesus death and AD after his death.
All who call on the name of Jesus out of belief in their hearts will be saved
To live for Jesus you abide in and walk with Him.
So there is the blessing of salvation and being like Jesus, two levels of faith you can enjoy. The choice is yours. Even God will not force you. He has given you a free will which He respects at all times.

I don't know, especially when his name was Joshua.
Regardless of whether he did exist or not, people don't stick to what he says, they just idolise him so that he becomes their god, then they put words in his mouth to twist things how they want them to be -
"all you have to do to get into heaven is let 'Jesus' into your heart."
What a load of bull, he preached that by living as he did (ie: not in sin) was the path to god.
Idolising Christ goes against the 1st and 2nd Commandments, though notice how quickly they sorted that out with the whole 'mysterious' trinity thing.

I would answer your question if I understood exactly what you wanted to know.
Matthew 7:13ff talks about the road to destruction being wide and easy and that few will find the road to eternal llfe.
1John 5:11ff talks about salvation and knowing that you have it.
Phillipians 2:12 talks about putting your salvation to work. Spurgeon said that we are saved by grace through faith alone, but that the faith that saves will not be alone.

I believe it is written "If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. The church part is because you want to be with others who also believe, so your faith can grow.

I've never understood the faith vs. works argument. Sure, you can have faith without it--but the Bible says that faith is dead, and that you know the tree by its fruit. It's not faith vs. works; it's that a true faith will lead naturally to works.
