We simply want to uphold the principle that religion doesn't belong in the government and the government doesn't belong in religion. The best way to keep in tune for this is to not endorse any religion and keep a secular society. This means that "in god we trust" should be taken out of our currency, yet this doesn't mean we're trying to impose our Atheists belief. If we did, we would have our coins say "There is no god to trust." We're trying to move things into a middle ground where neither your or our opinion is endorsed.

So my question is: Why does this "moving to the middle ground" notion that I have is interpretted by you as trying to drive things into a godless state? If you disagree to the "middle ground," what do you suggest as a realistic alternative to keep all parties at "peace"?

The reason is that without their religion to fall back on they might have to take on the hardships of life with brutal honesty and not denial. I do however think that there is a dispute on what is middle ground. I see your point about the money because we all have to use it but as far as the pledge of allegiance you don't have to say it. Freedom of religion does not necessarily mean that we cant worship the god we want. We have religious freedom so we can all worship what religion we want.

i did not examine a single answer to your question so i can not say for all. i'm going to assert for me. i become a nuclear physicist and a theoretical mathematician. i become and am quite religious in my ideals. I see no conflicts between them. in simple terms because of the fact it quite is not interior the Bible would not advise it does harm. What I found out in Physics and arithmetic is there are greater questions then solutions. I see the super strides guy has made because of the fact the Bible become written. look at medicine, housing, electrical energy, organic gas, using metals, plastic, flying, area shuttle, the computing gadget, the internet, television, radio, the telephone, subways, roads, shoes, and each little thing else. those products had to do with the guidelines of technology, God gave us unfastened will, subsequently God had not something to do with any of those and different innovations. how are you able to describe the six days it took to make the earth and all its ecosystem? Who says the Bible day become 24 hours, why ought to it not have been 34 billion hours or greater. The Bible would not clarify that. How did Methuselah stay that long? whilst now the oldest guy has lived is probably one hundred twenty five years. Your ingredient is mute. believe what you opt for even though it would not make it top.

There is no middle ground! Bob Dylan said it very nicely in his song 'You've Got To Serve Somebody" the lyrics went like this: "It may be the devil or it may be the Lord but still you've got to serve somebody" There is no middle ground, there is no other choice. To think there is is to conceive thought with an insane mind! So I guess for you it's 'Welcome To The Asylum'!!!
Furthermore the only way this place is going to get right is One World Under God, which is his plan and nobody can stop it! Mankind does not have what it takes on his own to do it. He's had thousands of years to try and look at the mess he's made!

Oh by the way Amen really likes that Dylan tune! He listens to it frequently!

How has "In God We Trust" hurt your life style. Where is it written that Atheists must trust in God whether they like it or not.
When I drive down the road I see a lot of different entities in the cities. Whenever I see a hospital though, nine times out of ten there is a reference to a Biblical figure or place. Somehow though I've never seen a hospital with a name that refers to Atheism. I've seen many schools with religious connotations in their names. But never any with an atheistic connotation.
God is referred to in the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, and in the constitutions of the original 13 states.
The congress of the United States starts every session with prayer to the Almighty God. The President of the United States has always taken the oath of office with prayer and the Bible. Up until recently many court houses displayed the Ten Commandments prominently. As long as the vast majority of citizens believe in the Almighty God, I don't think you are going to have your way on this issue.

I agree with you completely. I am all for the taking church out of politics. Personally i think that if we are going to claim America as the land of the free we need to practice what we preach. We stopped allowing freedoms long ago, and it is a sad state of mind. I am Agnostic, meaning, i believe there is a God, but i don't choose one, or stick with one religion. I think that Religion and Government have no business meshing, especially not in as radically religious world we live in now.

I'm an atheist, and you have your beliefs wrong. Atheists believe there is no God. Therefore there is no middle ground for religious people. It is a black and white issue. As far as an alternative to keep parties at peace: If the desire to see their family members and friends live their lives without war and death isn't enough for them to adopt peace, then what chance do atheists have?

Look at the evidence. That supports the statement.
Mrs. O'Hare began something that carries on and the evidence is wit h the statement. Moving to middle ground means that your religion is given equal time, not the exclusive one!

I completely agree with you. Forcing others to accept some particular idea or acknowledge the existence of a deity or adhere to behavioral standards from someone else’s religion means that their religious freedom is being infringed upon. There is freedom of religion in this country and it is everyones RIGHT to have that freedom preserved.

The atheists are being blamed for your reasonable position because the beast of Revelation 13 doesn't want people to realize exactly who he is until it's too late. God help us all.

they say it, because its true. Atheists sue to have monuments removed that have been around for ages because it "represents Christianity or God". They want "in God we trust" removed from money, when it doesnt even specify which God theyre referring to. Its a pretty open statement. It seems to bother atheists that we have our beliefs. Why not just let us have them? I dont force my beliefs on anyone, so why do I have to go home or to church to believe in God, because if I believe in him in public I'll get arrested? "In God we trust" is hardly cramming religion down anyones throat
