My father and mother were married for 54 years. We always thought that he was the stronger of the two and now that she is gone he appears to be almost helpless. He is a very humble, private man without many interests, so he doesn't have too much to occupy his time. He seems to be waiting to die now so that he can go to heaven and be with her. Has anyone had a similar experience and how did you help the surviving parent to cope with their loss? I would like to hear from all people if you will answer respectfully. No offense but if you aren't a Christian and you answer please don't use this as a forum to say why you don't believe. If you aren't a Christian you can still answer in a helpful and respectful way. Thanks to you all.

For the record; I am an athiest with an interest in religion and I have read the Qu'ran several times. Within Sharia law, there are a group of "Hadd" offenses such as pre-marital sexual intercourse, sex by divorced persons, post-marital sex, adultery, false accusation of unlawful intercourse, drinking alcohol, theft, and highway robbery. Hadd sexual offenses carry a sentence of stoning to death or severe flogging. Chapter 24 of the Qur'an, explicitly instructs believers to whip those found guilty of adultery. It's not contemporary or even based on real world science, EXAMPLE; under an obscure tenet of Islamic law an embryo can 'sleep' for years before swelling a woman's belly thus it is believed that an interval of up to 7 years can pass between conception and birth. This means that a woman who is pregnant and has been divorced for fewer than seven years can theoretically claim the father of the fetus is her former husband. Is that the acceptable face of Islam?

Religion is such a personal and sometimes "touchy" subject to some...(But I enjoy learning what and why people believe as they do)
If you learned that some of your ideas, either within your church or your personal beliefs are not Biblically correct, would you change? Would you change religions? Would you stick with the doctrine, even tho you know it's not correct?
Would switching to another religion, or switching to not having one, be extremely difficult?
My question is whether you'd feel inspired to follow truth as it's been revealed to you, OR would it be more important to hold on to your established beliefs?
Tough desision for some, I'm sure...

You can turn a question into a drama (with yourself as the hero, see link to earlier question), how easy to turn your beliefs into the Word of God:

Everyone wants a good drama, so they can be a hero.

How easy is it to turn your beliefs into the Word of God so you can feel like one of God's Chosen?

Where does the arrogance of pride end: assuming you understand God and anyone who disagrees with you is wrong, and where does the humility of knowing how little you know begin?

Hello!! :o) I hope you're OK. As a Christian - I freely admit that I understand very little of what I read in the Bible. I find most of it quite confusing. Do you - as a Christian - feel as though you should pretend to know more than you do - in order to give the impression that your faith is strong?! OR are you quite willing to admit that you don't understand all of it?! Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

All my life I've been a very kind noble person. I try to help out anyone who needs help and I feel terrible everytime I see a person in need. I live by a set of moral code that ensures that I am a honest member of society. The only problem is I'm not religious at all and never will be. According to my moral codes, God has broken everything that's good and decent so will I go to hell because God is a insecure being who punishes people for doubting his existance?

I have noticed some similes between Ezekiel and the Book of Revelation. Are the Revelation and Ezekiel perhaps admonishments and revelations of the same event that the man still expects?

1)Both authors of the books write of their divine vision and the place where they have received it.
2)At the beginning of the book, both prophets describe the vision of four living creatures.
3)John and Ezekiel have the vision of a book and a roll written on the inside as well as on the outside.
4)John and Ezekiel have the vision of the new Jerusalem.
However, I believe that it would be better to announce the arrival of the Kingdom of God to the christians with the Book of Revelation and, to the hebrews with the books of the Old Testament.

Hello!! :o) I hope you're OK. I believe in God and have accepted Christ. But that doesn't mean I understand all of it. In fact - much of the Bible baffles me. That said... If we still have to be sin-free [as many Christians seem to suggest] to get into heaven then what did Christ DO for us?! Thanks. Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

I believe in Angels, and have had a few experiences where I just knew I was protected by something...
Do you believe in them?
Have you ever been protected in some way, probably by an Angel, and the outcome should've been terrible...but it wasn't!
I would love to hear your Angel stories...Thanks

Jesus knew he was to be betrayed and who would betray Him. He encouraged Judas to go and turn Him in. He refused to defend Himself before the Pharisees, Herod, and Pilate.

"Not my will, but thy will be done." Jesus knew the course He was to follow. He arranged His own death.

Isn't that suicide?

What is God's penalty for men who commit suicide?
