If you're a student (high school or college), would you cheat on a test? What about on homework if you forgot? Do you feel bad if you do cheat?

Islam is against cheating. However, to be honest, when I was young, I thought that cheating is to ask or to copy answers from colleagues but it is OK to give them my answers or let them see them (obviously I was a study freak!!!).

However, when I grew up, I realised that this is just as bad. And also, I developed the courage to say no, to my friends because this is against the morals of my religion without being afraid that they would leave me.

Interestingly enough, working as a teacher, I found that adults cheat too!!! I thought it was kids at school only. They are adults taking language courses by their own will but they do.

And you know what?! The reason they do this is the same reason people lie or get defensive or act condescendingly. No one wants to look bad and wants to keep an image so they try to cover it up.

We need to be true to our God to be true to ourselves to be true to people.

I never cheated or lied in College. The consequences of doing so are so huge that it isn't at all worth taking the risk. I did, however, cheat while I was in high school. Nothing serious, a friend giving me a couple of answers for the math homework or something. Personally I do not like cheating because I consider myself an honest person to myself (most importantly) and to my peers, but I can't say I felt bad either. I know it is something I shouldn't have done and have active worked avoiding repeating it, yet beating myself up for a choice I made is not going to get me anywhere. At the time, for some reason or another, I thought it was the best choice to make. Learning from the experience is what matters.

Cheating regularly is a bad thing.

I have no problem with a little cheating here and there to get you through, however. In cases where something came up and you weren't able to study - or you're just brain dead - IF under normal circumstances you would be able to pass the test without cheating.

Then I don't think it's that bad. So long as it's a crutch that is rarely used.

try not to as sooner or later the teacher or professor will catch you. then the punishment would be severe. be honest with the ones in charge of the class as they are understanding if you give them the opportunity to be. if you need help get a tutor or ask the teacher if there are any alternatives available for extra credit, many will offer these opportunities if they are aware of the need. when one cheats they do not learn what they are supposed to.

I used a calculator watch in an arithmetic exam and no I didn't feel remotely bad, and at university I engaged in some very small scale plagiarism-nearly everybody does it to some extent.
