In response to a question that was basicaly : the world is pretty why don't you belive god designed it.

Here is the best "point" one can score against aethists. We don't know. We have a few theories, so far most of us ( i think, i could be wrong ) go with the big bang. Is it an unalterable fact? No. It is only a "fact" because at this point nothing has been able to prove more likely. We (aethists) manage to accept we don't know everything. We strive to learn. We would love to know the begining of it all. But being rational beings cannot help but respond to I.D. as nothing but a veiled attempt at creationism. Which is founded on Faith not science. True science can and often does change daily, but we are willing to accept change to grow. Christians / Muslims / Hindus / all other religeons refuse to deviate from the idea of a spiritul realm that depends holy on Faith. we grow and change, whilst the relgeous grow inward and twist like vipers at themselves with there "interpretations.

as his saviour and all so he goes straight to heaven... does this make any sence I think a christian with common sense would think about it you can't enter the kingdom of God undefiled even though you repented don't you deserve suffer even alittle? That's why I believe in purgatory why don't protestants...

Could any practising Jehovahs Witnesses please explain to me why how I can make my wifes mother love her? She has wiped her off and so has the rest of the family that are Witnesses only because she spoke the truth, she found out her brother, a J.W is a practising Homosexual and has been lying about it, some may say its none of our buisness but when he judges us for living a non JW lifestyle and then doorknocks and preaches to others about J.W'S, We felt that it was our moral obligation to confront him and let the truth be told, now all this has done is alienated us from them, they preach love and family but can hate in an instant because "you are not allowed to criticise the flock" why are they so hypicriticle? is there a Head Jehovah I can email? all I can find are the local Halls and they are all ignoring our efforts to reconcile, some nice people they are? I believe the truth should always be told wether it hurts or not, he should not be allowed to deceive people. Why are they so ?

cant they get someone else to run the store for them? Christians never close their stores...Easter is always on a Sunday, so its closed already, and even on Christmas they open for half the day.

The Christians close on Sunday, so its fine for the Jewish religion to close on Saturday, I dont mind either they close early on Friday.

Im not bashing any religion..Im just making a point.

if you truly believe there is no higher being, how do you account for people? how do you account for everything we use, all materials, natural resources, ie, oil, coal, water, oxygen, etc? our resources are just conveniently there. how do you explain our perfect proximity to the sun and all other planets around us? we are at a perfect distance from the sun. not to hot. not to cold. the planets pull on us, as well as the earth pulls on them. its a perfect symbyosis. what i mean is, do you think this is coicidence? do you think man JUST CAME INTO BEING? or the universe just popped into existance? dont you find it odd, out of all the planets that we know anything about none of them can sustain life. how can you truly rationalise everything around you without adding intelligent design to the equation? something had to make this perfect universe. things of such beauty, perfection (the universe, not people) had to be made, not brought about by the big bang.

Isn't it bizarre how millions of people all claim to follow God (and to my mind there is only one!) and yet all believe in such different things? Sometimes it seems as though people only believe in what is conveniant for them to believe in because it merely suits their lifestyle. Who actually sat down and wrote the bible in the beginning? How many times has it been re-written and by whom? If it has been re-written so many times (and by different people) then isn't it conceivable that some misinterpretations may have occured along the way? This is not a criticism of faith, just an awful lot of confusion from somebody trying to understand!

I asked a question "Are most Christians naive bigots?" and the question was deleted before it hit the board. I got a violation notice via email.

So I wrote another "Are most atheists naive bigots" and the question went through. I quickly wrote an "additional details" explaining it was a test. People appearantly don't read those, so ignore all the responses.

I have been working full time in a ministry now for a year and a half. at just 18 that might be a shocker.
But i have also been on my own since I was 12.
Both of my parents were drug addicts and left my sister and I to fend for ourselves.
I now live in a different state than the rest of my family, and I miss them alot but I know this is where God called me to be.

Do you think that it is wrong to forsake your family for the call of God?
