Jesus Camp is nothing more than a Hollyweird attempt at passing this off as representative of mainstream Protestant (or Evangelical) Christianity.

Ted Haggard, the president of the National Association of Evangelicals, appeared in the movie briefly, but had been misled by the producers as to what the film was about, and how it would portray the camp.

This is not unexpected. All you have to do is look at a Michael Moore movie, and you get the mentality. Their creed: Show it skewed, present it as representative.

Because many right wing fundamentalist churches have hijacked the term Christian to mean only their type of Christianity.

And no not all church camps are that obnoxious and scary. That's not camping or even teaching religious concepts that's indoctrination. Worshipping Bush ???? I thought Christianity was supposed to worship God and Jesus Christ.

The 'compassionate' conservative christian Republicans have to be pretty darn desperate for members if they do stuff like that.

That camp should be reported for child abuse.

No, not all Christians are like that.

But also, you have to consider how the media has portrayed this camp. I watched a lot of stuff on it, and I think people are getting wrong ideas about it. They think the kids are being taught to worship George W. Bush. Ok, the cardboard cutout thing is weird, but they weren't being told to worship him. They were told to speak a blessing over him. I think it's good to pray for world leaders. They need our prayers, because they have to make a lot of big decisions.
Also, they make it sound like they're being taught violence. They merely use a lot of the typical metaphors to make it more fun when talking about spiritual warfare. I think we have to be fair in the way we view things like this.
The media loves to make Christians look like crazy cult members.

As a Christian, i ought to permit you comprehend that this radical church and "Jesus Camp" isn't something like what 'maximum' Christians have faith. it extremely is frightening. i'm unable to have faith, if that's all genuine, that they escape with it. that's extra like the Waco cult for my area. that's 'not' Christianity the way Christ meant it, and it extremely is 'not' what i've got faith.

I haven't see it but from what I hear it sounds like a charismatic camp for teens and preteens.

You are definitely correct. Not all churches are like that. Mine (Baptist) isn't and I would think only charismatic churches would even be possibly like that.

sadly, not everyone who thinks they are a Christian actually are! On judgement day, many will stand before God and say....many great works have I done in thy name...and He will say depart from me you worker of unrighteousness, I NEVER KNEW YOU! and they will be cast into hell's fires. Bottom line..test the spirit in the church, whether it be of God or not!

All Christian camps are not like that at all. In fact, I've never seen anything like that before.

But don't get you hopes up that non-believers will accept that. They want to believe we are all like that, and for them to accept that we are not, they would have to be open minded and fair.

Ironic, isn't it?

Richard Roeper of Ebert & Roeper reviewed the film this week and said it was scarier than the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
