I am a Catholic. You will see many answers here- and most will be full of hatred for the Catholic Church.

Bishop Fulton Sheen once said," There are millions of people who hate the Catholic Church for what they THINK she is, but not one who can know the truth of the Catholic Church and hate her for what she TRULY is."

Protestants PROTEST the truths of the Church. They feel they should be able to pick and choose what they believe in, and shop around to find a faith community that fits that description.

As Catholics, we have one constant unvarying truth ever before us. It seems to outsiders we are wrapped up in guilt, but that is because we acknowledge our inability to lead sinless lives. For example, sex outside of marriage. HUGE no for Catholics, yet we fail at times. We can acknowledge that guilt, be freed from the sin by God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation ( Confession) and use that grace to help us avoid the sin the next time around.

All a protestant need do is shop around until he finds a church that says," As long as you love the person, it's ok!" And I KNOW people who have found supposed Christian churches like that!

The fact remains: Jesus Christ founded only ONE Church while He was on earth- the Catholic Church. ALL OTHER CHRISTIAN CHURCHES rejected at least one teaching of the Church, and it was a big enough difference that they needed to start a new faith group.

Some may say the early Church fell into error or heresy, and these offshoots were an attempt to correct it.

Jesus said to Peter," You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it."

Are these people calling Jesus a LIAR?

The offshoot faith groups are an attempt by Satan to divide the faithful followers of Christ....recall that Jesus prophesied this splitting- " That they all may be one."

Now we must fulfill His prophesy!

The Reformation was a civil war mixed with a religious movement. Reading the Reformers comments on one another, (generally they hated those not allied with themselves and loved their allies), makes clear that this was about money and power as it was religion. Between one sixth and one third of all Germans were killed in the Reformation about equal numbers on both sides.

Once you start killing people, you cannot say "sorry." Protestants had a lot of peculiar problems that they had to solve, both religious and social. Catholics could legitimately make claims they could not so they illegitimized those claims through propaganda and careful passage selection. This was a war in the literal sense and scripture quotations were the weapon on both sides.

Catholicism has gotten over the Reformation mostly and no longer has ill feelings, but the civil war was the Reformations' founding event. It is stuck in the sixteenth century while the Catholic Church simply moved on. Just as the Catholic Church is stuck in the years 30-around 300, the Reformation is stuck in the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.

It is a hold over of the founding. If you really want to see hate, see the writings of contemporary Mennonites.

I'm a Protestant, and I just finished sending an email to a Catholic lady, telling her how much respect I have for Catholicism because even though i don't agree with everything, I've found that many Catholics are such loving people, and really do try to live as Jesus taught us to live.
I don't care what kind of a church someone goes to. I don't hate anyone. But I especially like a lot of Catholics I've talked to because they just seem to.... "shine", I guess you'd say. They just have such a love and devotion for Jesus.

Protestants don't hate Catholics, they're just protesting their acceptance of wrong teachings.

I know tons of Catholics (friends and family) but I don't agree with a lot of things they believe or teach. In fact, I believe some of those false teachings lead to sin.

I think that's a European thing, I've never seen any of that in America, I think it's because American Protestants, and Catholics could care less. I'm Irish Catholic, I have friends that are Jews, Protestants, Puerto Rican, etc. . We all take turns making fun of OUR OWN ethnicity, This is America, and New York, quite an interesting mix of cultures, we HAVE to get along, theirs no choice.

there are particular "puppy hatreds" between particular branches of Catholocism and Protastentism. as an occasion, in Australia many Catholics of Irish descent hate English Protestants and vise versa. it is likewise o.k. documented. a similar happens between the Poddies and Catholics in Northern eire and additionally in Scotland, areas of Holland (Calvanists) etc. There are additionally particular chuffed Clappy so mentioned as Christians that are taught that the Catholics are not Christian, which comprise many Charismatic Christians that are in fact an offshoot of the Protestant arm of the religion. There are additionally particular sects of Catholics who hate with a keenness, the excommunicated Pius X society (Lefebre'ites) and a pair of alternative confusing middle communities that do unlike even mainstream Catholics. the fact is in spite of the fact that, with out the Catholic Church there may be NO different Christian faiths outdoors of the the Orthodox realm and a few smaller church homes such using fact the Syrian and Abbysinian church homes (Jamesian). For the checklist i'm not Catholic, nor Protestant.

My guess is misinformation about what it is that the Catholic Church actually teaches. I know when I was growing up going to Sunday school at a Baptist Church, they taught us all of the reason why the Catholic Church is a cult. When I got to be an adult and started researching, I found out that what I had been taught about the Catholic Church by the Baptist Church was extremely inaccurate.

"Not 100 in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think that the Roman Catholic Church is."
--Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

If anyone wants to sincerely learn what it is that the Catholic Church teaches, I would advise them to check out:

I DO NOT hate Catholics but my old fashioned grandma does not like it when i date Catholics..she thinks they worship idols ( you know how old people are set in their ways). The only time Catholics get on my nerves is when they say they're allowed to drink and Protestants aren't. That's so stupid!

I do not hate Catholics but I hate their teachings.

They are just based on the pagan religion made by the Constantine emperor during the 3 century.

None of their belief are Holy Bible based. They prefer to obey Pope than God.
