this question is for those of the Muslim faith. i just saw Pres. Pervez Musharraf (spelling?) on the Daily Show last night. he seemed witty, very approachable, and to be a genuinely good person, as well as a regular guy, but i've never seen a muslim portrayed as a regular person on television other than a select few that have done interviews.

i was raised christian, but i also consider my family to be a pretty average american working family. we went to church on sunday, but sometimes we missed when my dad worked, and went less as i got older. though we followed the christian faith, we were far from perfect, had arguements, made mistakes, and according to the rules of the church, maybe werent as devout as we should have been in our daily lives. we're certainly not the ppl you see on televised church services, or shows like "7th Heaven".

so, what does the average muslim's day consist of? do most muslims really follow the rules of the religion? prayer 5 times a day? fasting? diet? etc.

Ethiopia, murder, child molestation, and abduction, etc..
Why if God is so great and can do anything do these things happen? Who can explain a six month old baby getting gang raped? What did that baby do? What is God's plan for her? Or young kids who get beat by their parents and then eventually killed by them? Where is God when they need him? Maybe someone can explain why this almighty being who can do anything allows this stuff to happen to innocent people, and then nothing happens to some horrible people. It doesn't really make sense to me.

Than why do we lie to our children, telling them that santa clause is comin down the chimney and not tell the the truth about the Father God of Israel. Why do we disobey our Fathers commandments when he tells us not to do this. If sin exists that means that Law is not nailed to the cross. If the Law is nailed to the cross than everybody gets to get into the kingdom just because Jesus died on the cross. Bigest lie ever told.

It seems to me that christians enjoy tossing the "you will burn in hell for opposing my beliefs" stuff around...is there a special room in heaven where you people can laugh and giggle at those who will be suffering for eternity? I am sure that your overblown egos will need to be fed even after you are all dead....yes???

The rehetoric is the same even if the object of the hate isn't:

How does calling people names like in the ones in these articles make you pro-family or show that you have Christian values?

Why is okay for politicians to attend something like this summit but not a KKK rally because there really is no difference? Is it because it’s called a ‘values voters summit’ instead of a hate rally?

I've done my own internet research on the origins of the swastika symbol, and discovered that the symbol & the word itself are Hindu symbols from India, and that it originally meant something good, not evil,so,why did Adolf Hitler choose this symbol? It became a despised symbol after World War II,but,I don't know why he chose it.

Example
You would have never understood the verse that says
"It is better to live in a deserted land, than with woman who is angry and unforgiving"

Proverbs 21:19

I spent three of the saddest years of my life under the same roof with a woman like what that verse descrives and I agreed 110 % that I rather live anywhere else that with that woman (my biological mother)

For all we know those deities could enjoy jazz or classical, or any other genre. But yet it's black-metal, never black-jazz, etc. Could Norwegian church-burning heavy-metal musicians be headed for an eternity of Boney M?

When I think of everything I have learned from my Catholic education I don't once remember sharing my own opinions. Does not believing certain aspects of the Catholic faith make me a bad Catholic? America has seen the dangers of blind faith with the tradgedies of 9/11. The terrorists honestly thought they were doing the right thing. I wonder if sometimes I could be falling into the same trap. There is a great song out there called "Belief" by John Mayer. Check it out its almost life changing.

One Whisper of the Beloved

Lovers share a sacred decree –
to seek the Beloved.
They roll head over heels,
rushing toward the Beautiful One
like a torrent of water

In truth, everyone is a shadow of the Beloved –
Our seeking is His seeking,
Our words are His words.

At times we flow toward the Beloved
like a dancing stream.
At times we are still water
held in His pitcher.
At times we boil in a pot
turning to vapor –
that is the job of the Beloved.

He breathes into my ear
until my soul
takes on His fragrance.
He is the soul of my soul –
How can I escape?
But why would any soul in this world
want to escape from the Beloved?

He will melt your pride
making you thin as a strand of hair,
Yet do not trade, even for both worlds,
One strand of His hair.

We search for Him here and there
while looking right at Him.
Sitting by His side we ask,
"O Beloved, where is the Beloved?"

Enough with such questions! –
Let silence take you to the core of life.

All your talk is worthless
When compared to one whisper
of the Beloved.

-Rumi( a spritual muslim poet)

There is a candle in your heart...

There is a candle in your heart,
ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul,
ready to be filled.
You feel it, don't you?
You feel the separation
from the Beloved.
Invite Him to fill you up,
embrace the fire.
Remind those who tell you otherwise that
Love
comes to you of its own accord,
and the yearning for it
cannot be learned in any school

Our death is our wedding with eternity.
What is the secret? "God is One."
The sunlight splits when entering the windows of the house.
This multiplicity exists in the cluster of grapes;
It is not in the juice made from the grapes.
For he who is living in the Light of God,
The death of the carnal soul is a blessing.
Regarding him, say neither bad nor good,
For he is gone beyond the good and the bad.
Fix your eyes on God and do not talk about what is invisible,
So that he may place another look in your eyes.
It is in the vision of the physical eyes
That no invisible or secret thing exists.
But when the eye is turned toward the Light of God
What thing could remain hidden under such a Light?
Although all lights emanate from the Divine Light
Don't call all these lights "the Light of God";
It is the eternal light which is the Light of God,
The ephemeral light is an attribute of the body and the flesh.
...Oh God who gives the grace of vision!
The bird of vision is flying towards You with the wings of desire.

What if you found out tomorrow that your religion was falsely based on an old egyptian religion and their religion didn't say anything about separating religions, that all religions were equally valid? What if you found out your holy texts were edited by the transcribers to fit their own personal beliefs? What if you found out that your religion was as morally bankrupt as the people you currently believe you are superior to?

I just don't feel like a complete woman without them. God wants me to have more and so should the members of my church if they really care.

Boobs are God's gift to both women and men. Why did God just give me these little itty bitty things and wouldn't he want me to have big gabonzas, like he intended for women to have?

What would Jesus do?

I mean they try to convince eachother that one or the other is right, and that their ideas are absolute. Don't they realize the harder they push the farther apart they go? Even if they proved God or Evolution wrong people would still believe otherwise no matter what. It's all opinions, and the only opinion that should matter to a person is their opinion.

there is a website I have visited days ago that have members who are Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, Sikhs, Jains, Confucians, Chondokyos, Animists, pagans and many others whose main goal is to exterminate Islam from the rest of the world. That website seems so brutal.

Okay i'm not even a muslim and i don't support this website because it is so racist but i'm just curious if that stupid website would gain many more members from all over the world who are non-muslims.

1. Why is Islam so intolerant at other religious followers through Koran verses that promote anti-infidelism and war against the unbelievers?

2. If Islam is a religion of peace, then why Muslims have higher tendency to look down, hate and bomb others after reading Koran? Literatures by Aesop, Homer, etc also promote peace but their readers never bomb others after reading them.

3. Why must Islam be spread by the sword, as suggested by Prophet Mohammad? (Don't compare with other religions)

4. Why must Muslims be punished by death for converting to other religion?

5. Why must Prophet Mohammad and Muslims take up lots of wives in order to take care of their welfare instead of adopting them as sisters and daughters that can also fulfill the same purpose?

6. Why Islam denounce idol worshipping and yet Muslims have no problem praying aroung the "black stone" in Mecca?

7. Why Muslims accuse other religions including Buddhism, Taoism and Zen as inferior when they only know the tip of the iceberg (regarding their teachings)? Even if Buddhism, Taoism and Zen are not religion but are Muslims familiar with all of their teachings before criticizing them as inferior?

8. What exactly is the true meaning of Jihad? Is it of greater importance? How many Muslims are following it?

9. Why must covering up (for women) and keeping a beard (for men) be related to Islam instead of merely an Arabian historic culture, without any religious relevance?

10. Why must Muslims sacrifice innocent camels and cows to show conviction to God? Wouldn't it show greater conviction for Muslims if they sacrifice willing fellow Muslims or even their own wives and children instead? If it's to rid the animals of sin, what about other animal species and fellow sinful Muslims?
