this question is for those of the Muslim faith. i just saw Pres. Pervez Musharraf (spelling?) on the Daily Show last night. he seemed witty, very approachable, and to be a genuinely good person, as well as a regular guy, but i've never seen a muslim portrayed as a regular person on television other than a select few that have done interviews.

i was raised christian, but i also consider my family to be a pretty average american working family. we went to church on sunday, but sometimes we missed when my dad worked, and went less as i got older. though we followed the christian faith, we were far from perfect, had arguements, made mistakes, and according to the rules of the church, maybe werent as devout as we should have been in our daily lives. we're certainly not the ppl you see on televised church services, or shows like "7th Heaven".

so, what does the average muslim's day consist of? do most muslims really follow the rules of the religion? prayer 5 times a day? fasting? diet? etc.

hey i like your question.

suprisingly the muslims around me don't pray five times a day... because we have to put in "effort"

other than that the 'average' muslim is just like any other human being.. i mean we're just like you and your family. but let me point out the religous things we do differntly

like i wake up in the morning at 5:30ish pray the first prayer of the day..get ready for school/work.. u know..

throughout the day we socialize..at work at school where ever..
and like if we have workk or school we can't pray the 2nd prayer thats around noon time

after noon time..if we are home we should be praying our third prayer, but we get lazy sometimes and dont..

sunset time the same... if your lazy your lazy... most muslims regret not praying, at the same time don't do it still. strangee..

the at night maybe 9ish is our last prayer..if ur lazy..again you don't pray.. if you aren't you pray.

ALL muslims are required to live a modest, humble, happy life, anger, hatred, envy, jealously are things we believe is what the devil tries to deceive you to. Repsect people, even if they don't respect you. make friends be nice to your neighbor.. u know the usuall

we can't eat pork because its a dirty animal that kinda eats its own poo. its just simply dirty so we don't.

some muslims eat "halal" only thats food sacrficed only for the perposes of eating and under gods name. the animal can't be tortred or beatan. those are haram (bad) for us to eat.

okay thats pretty much it i guess. sorry if i wrote too much. forgive me. anymore questions you can email

okay take care bye

The average Muslim's day is just like any other person's day, except for some daily religious practices. Muslims are supposed to pray 5 times each day withing five different time periods (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha'a). Prayer is known as "Salat". On Fridays, Muslims go to their Masjid, or Mosque, to participate in congregational prayer.
Muslims also cant eat Pork, any thing that has already died by itself, blood, or anyhting slaughtered in the name of something other than Allah, like another religion's sacrafice. They may not take drugs or drink alcohol either.
During Ramadan, Muslims are supposed paticipate in fasting, or "Saum", from sunrise to sunset. Fasting includes abstaining from food, drink, sex, or anything un-islamic.
Muslims are also expected to donate 2% of their net worth to charity every year. This is called "Zakat" or "poor rate".
There are bound to be, as there are in any religion, Muslims who do not follow all of these rules, if any of them. I wouldn't be able to tell you what percentage of Muslims are fully practicing ones, but my estimate would be a high one.
Other than this, Muslim's lives and daily routines are like everyone elses, except that they may wake up earlier for prayers and/or to make enough time for breakfast during Ramadan.
And yes, Muslims too have a sense of Humor.

being a 'real' muslim is to follow all the rules and what have stated in Holy Koran...and all the knowledges from the Prophet Muhammad without any reason..... muslim teaches it followers to be moderate... but people is not always perfect and made sins....and not all of the muslims nowadays follow the rules of the religion.. just the same with other religion..... because people tend to make decision by their own desire without thinking the negative effects by not following the rules.....people love to create their own law without realizing that they had broke the God's law....

i am proud to be muslim , but i do respect other religions just as our " Quaran " tells us , well ... i can say that the average muslim's day consist of praying 5 times a day and currently we're in Ramadan , this holly month when we fast to understand the poor people's suffering but fasting isn't just about not eating and drinking , it's also about our manners , you must not insult , curse or treat people badly coz this isn't exactly the concept of fasting , we read from our Quaran and try to help other people as much as we can by giving them money , food , clothes or whatever their needs are ... and that's it .. if u have any more questions you can contact me . and i must say that we're living just like every person does , we go to school , jobs , practice sports , read , go to movies , malls and cinemas , our religion isn't complicated at all

I'm glad that you can see through the veil that the media has dropped on many of our nation's people...

Islam is a great religion, and I have faith that someday, Americans will suddenly wake up to this, and they will vengefully expose all the lies that were fed to them by this transgressor Administration, and by the evil news and media networks, who are willing to do anything, yes anything, to win the ratings game...
