I know that many atheists on yahoo like to rip on people who believe in God, regardless of religion, often calling them morons. Yet if it helps people cope with life and thereby leading happy and prosperous lives, what is the harm?

Looking at it from an atheist perspective, we only have a short amount of time on this planet before returning to oblivion. If believing in a God helps a person remain happy throughout there life and gives them the ability to cope with harsh problems, is it not all for the better of that person?

I'm sure that some will counter with arguments about extremists or religious wars. Keep in mind that the vast majority of religious followers get along fine day-to-day, without harming anyone.

I have been a member of a small church for 8 years. I have counted the money the last 2. My church has about 80 people in it and most are VERY wealthy. I have taken about 65,000 dollars since I started collecting. I feel like I just woke up and now realize I was wrong. I am broke and cannot repay my church. I have an obsession with gambling and am very involed with porn. I need some good advice about what I should do. If they find out about the porn they will not forgive me. Please help me do what is right.

Christians, don't tell me once more "there is ONE god". Accept that there are billions of people who don't worship the same deity as yours.

There are plenty of religions, so there are plenty of deities.

If God is omniscient, then He knows what I will do tomorrow, and in fact what I will do forever.

Therefore how can there be true freedom of choice. If He knows what I will do next, I can’t possibly do anything but that, I have no choice as to what I do.

If God knows what will happen at the end of the world then it pre-destined and there is nothing anyone can do about it, so how is there free choice?

So ok.. you read the first post i hope, if not, why not go do it now, cant hurt, and im asking you to...

All i can think to say so far, is blah.

I have 2 weeks, until my life possibly ends, my life was allready teetering, ready to fall. I need someone to catch me. I have no family, and my wife cant carry my entire burden, shes not that strong.

So once again i ask you, the people with faith. How do you do it.

Ok fine forget all the constraints, i just didnt want the huge bible quotes u guys allways stick in, and all the normal preachy crap, and 20 people saying god loves you. Its not what i need, but if your offended, go ahead, say something for your own sake, but know annoying me, isnt going to save me.

And know that allthough i gave u my first reason, for loss of belife, there have been many others, i still have all my limbs and senses, i admit, but you would never belive the rest, why not read just afew of my other questions if you have time..

In Quantum Physics, the atomic world is nothing like the real world. The Copenhagen interpretation states that reality is what is measured. , The particle you perform experiments on is what you measure it to be. Neils Bohr, the physicist basically said that nothing is real unless it is observed. An independent reality, in the ordinary physical sense, can neither be ascribed to the phenomena nor to the agencies of observation.

If we were to extrapolate this, it would mean the world we live in cannot be considered real based on Quantum Physics. The objective world we live in is an illusion.

it's self-proclaimed -christians- who are telling me not all who claim to be christian are truly christian.

I'm just trying to sort out who is and who is not a christian, based on the -christian- claim that not all self-proclaimed christians are truly christian.

And telling me to judge them based on their fruit and love isn't helping, except to eliminate a -lot- of self-proclaimed christians.

Honest, it's a lot easier for me to say "you all look alike", but obviously there are christians who disagree with that approach.

We've got the 'hell n brimstone' christian, we've got the 'i got mine' christian, we've got the 'humble christian', we've got the 'i never read the bible' christian...I could go on.

Why should christians tell me to judge for myself the credentials of self-proclaimed christians if we're not to judge? Why tell me "by their fruit ye will know them" if I'm not to judge?

You seem to think that evolving over thousands of years is an insult to the superiority of man or that it is dehumanizing in some way...

Do you truly not believe that being made out of DIRT should bring the same reaction? Is dirt like some mysterious miracle ingrediant that god creates superior beings out of?

Being made out of dirt is an insult to me...an insult to my intelligence. It amazes me that some people would be proud to be made out of something as filthy as dirt.

Why don't christians revere dirt more? why do christians do nothing while evil men lay huge swaths of concrete over the very earth (dirt) from which we are supposedly made from? I mean, dirt is what man is right??? It says so in the book, so it must be true...

Well someone added this question onto my last question, and it has intrigued me.

I am curious to what Muslim's believe Heaven will be like. Is there any scriptural support for the accusations that Heaven will be hold 70 some virgins for them, and that Heaven may actually be a bit more of an unrighteous place in my view?

I know it has been in the Media their believe of there being virgins in Heaven, however is there scriptural base for this in the Koran (Quran)
