Many times through out history, religion has been put forward as the excuse for slaughter and war. When you delve deeper into the facts, it becomes clearer that the basic greed of man, no what the faith they proclaim that is the driving force.

Every few people or nations can resist the temptation of attempting to control their neighbors.

Do not make the mistake of confusing the cloak of religion with the true intent of the doer. Do not relieve the individual of the responsibility for their actions.

The divine presence most of us aspire to model our lives after never ordered us to kill or hurt anyone. Individuals decide for their own gain to commit these acts and then justify them by wrapping a cloak of religious righteousness about them.
