I know that Jesus wept when He was on earth, but what I'm really interested in knowing is if the Bible ever portrays GOD as sorrowful? weeping? crying? Please cite your reference if you can think of one. Thanks!

If not, then how do you decide what parts to believe in and what parts not to believe in? How do you know what parts are supposed to be literally true? If all the bible is true, then why does it tell us to "beware of anything in addition to God's words". How do you know that some parts weren't just made up by some people for personal or political reasons in the past? I mean come on, some of the commands in the bible are down right cruel. There is a part in the old testament where people stone a guy to death for gathering wood on the Sabbath. This is supposed to be in accordance with "God's" law. And doesn't it seem more likely that a lot of the stories about Jesus' early life and virgin birth in the new testament were made up to make the Christian religion more acceptable to some of the pagan cultures in the area. I'd like to believe that the bible is 100% true, but my reason won't let me.

With logic and proof you don't need to have 'faith'. No matter how you look at it, someone born with a complete open-mind born of no previous belief or religion would chose not to be a Christian. After doing extensive research on religion, history, science and applying logic and common sense they would certainly not believe the Bible to be accurate.

If someone were to use their brain they would not chose to follow any of the dogmatic religions. Why do some of you Christians insist on telling us all you have the absolute truth when there is no truth in faith based beliefs. If you have logical and scientific proof then show it to me. Otherwise get out of my face with your 'faith'.

I heard that the in the bible, the sabbath is on Friday. So, for all those us who celebrate it on Sunday, we are breaking a commandment and doomed for hell. Anyone out there know the bible front to back, know if this is true?

Psalm 6:4-5 (David is saying: how can I praise God when dead?)
4. Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
5. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
Psalm 146:3-4 (the dead know nothing)
3. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Psalm 115:17 (the dead are dead)
The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
Acts 2:34 (I hope david resurrects though)
For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Do they mean they will think of you or say a short prayer to God? Will they try to do something else? Will they tell other people your business? Will they write it in a prayer journal or list? What does it usually mean????????

the reason i ask is because God needs us to know what we are saying when we speak for him - how many times have you begun to witness and get stumped? you see we must study to show ourselves approved. agree?

My husband will not listen to what I have to say about the Lord. And he refuses to go to church with me. I do not want to force my religion on him but I just wish he would let God into his life. I don't want him to go to hell. How can I get him to listen? He always says he doesn't want to hear me preach to him. But it's not like I am forcing it. I just tell him things like Jesus died for our sins and he wants us to be happy and we need to thank him. But he just brushes it off and says "whatever". What do you think about it?

Why couldn't it have been a highly-evolved advanced race of natural beings from somewhere in the universe who decided to help Earth along by starting the process and including the design? The design is not perfect; there are things, for example, in humans like earlobes, appendixes and tailbones which don't make any sense. There are other things like that in nature as well. I think the idea that it was beings from another galaxy or parallel universe is at least as plausible as a supernatural being.

I have heard people make this proclamation. Could someone explain it in detail. Does this mean that once you say a sinner's prayer, then you are covered forever. You Don't need to go to church. You don't need to pray. You have no accountability. You can be a murderer, adulterer, fornicator, thief, liar.or cheater. then who are the ones whose names are blotted out of the book of life.

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

I realize that Jesus did not say names that were blotted out, but His reference is that He will blot out some names, namely them that do not overcome.

Job 27:3-4
All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
People know their hearts

Perhaps it's really the breath/spirit that animates us as a soul of dust and we don't animate ourselves. the soul is self, we are physical and we don't animate ourselves....hmm, makes you think. If we could then we don't really die, we are like gods, we don't need God, and satan was telling Eve the truth

Ye Shall Not Surely Die!

nah, it's all lies, we cease to exist when we die.

How exactly does it make sense that a myth died for you 2000 years ago? You didnt even exist 2000 years ago so how does that have any relation to anything today? And not to mention the fact that theres no god and no after life so all those myths are irrelevant. The only way someone can die for you is if they jump in front of a bullet for you or something like that. A normal person wouldnt find that to make any sense, but anyway, normal people dont believe in that, christians do.

If we are all gods children and he loves us.. why does he create horribly maimed children.. who are born deformed.. or stillborn.. etc, and others with a lifetime of suffering and starvation around the world? Why does he create mentally handicapped people.. who cant even comprehend the first thing about him? Talk about tough love !!

I believe I have heard for the last time the crazy talk, "Christians are suppose to be tolerant of others". That is not in the Bible. We do not condone sin hoping not to "hurt someones feelings". The Bible says that "a mans enemies will be that of his own household". How is that tolerant? I say turn or burn. Repent or be spent. Why do you think you should be "tolerant"?

I have read lots of scripture about the state of the dead, speaking of us being "alseep" (dead-physically), but what scriptures actually show that anyone is in heaven now? Other than Moses, Enoch, Elijah, ? Or do we not go directly to heaven? Maybe we are in the grave til Christ returns and then there is the ressurection, I thought that was just for the physical body, but am not finding anything that says part of us goes to heaven immeadiatly at death.
We are the dust of the earth and the "breath" (spirit) God breathed into us this is in genisis. That the dust & the breath together makes the soul, but one without the other there is nothing left.
I thought we had physical, spirit & soul?
I cant find that anywhere in the bible.
Also the bible says God alone is immortal, so this would support us not going directly to heaven. Im just trying to figure out the TRUTH of this matter.
