A valid point. But just because faith is illogical does not mean it is wrong. There is no evidence, either way, on the big questions that religion deals with. So people must find the answer that works for them and beleive in it, and live their lives based on their choosen "truth". Faced with such a lack of data, there is no other way.
The problem is when people fail to recognize that all "truths" are arbitrary and start to think that their favored view is the only correct one.

Because faith is just that - faith. You believe in what is being described to you because someone intially felt that not believing could possibly be worse than believing. What's so wrong with thinking that an incredible being or entity created this wonderful world and is offering us a rewarding eternal life if we live well while on Earth? I'd rather think that then think I was here being tested time and time again, going through pain and suffering for nothing.
Why do we think that 1 + 1 = 2? Or that the sky is blue in colour? Why not 1 +1 = 345 or the sky is magenta? Because someone said it was and now it's logical. Same difference.
People need to stop questioning religion so much and they'll be much happier. Believe or don't believe in your faith whatever it maybe - free will, it's a lovely thing.

I didn't believe in God or the bible but by reading it and studying it and getting rid of the pagan stuff and the mystic stuff. the fairy tales and far out jiberish, realize the plain simple true from the bible was accurate.
Got rid of heaven and hell and learned that there was going to be a paradise earth. That Jeus would rule the world and clean up this mess. When your dead your really dead. That some people don't deserve to live. which I already knew.
By reason and logic came to believe the bible.
Satan wraps it in lies and pagan customes so people won't believe it. When you just learn the truth. It all makes perfect sense.

Different level of intelligence speak with different language. If computer were smart enough to communicate and try to understand human, computer can never try to understand human's emotion with a "C language". God's intelligence is far beyond human's intelligence. We cannot use our logical thought to paint's God's will. Only through faith as a first contact, you then feel God's presence. For the first time driver, you can never feel the feel of driving unless you have the faith to first insert the key and start the car. The rest is just you interacting with the car to better understand what the car can do for you. It's a long journey. But, it's a journey worth taking.

Religious people claim a lot of things. So do non-religious people. Its not always the religion - its often the people. Some people think "Bigfoot" is real, even though the hoax has been exposed. People are strange that way sometimes.

"Faith" is only as worthy/valuable as the object in which it is placed. I might have great faith that a decrepid bridge is safe, when it's not. Or I might be fearful (little faith) to drive across the Golden Gate bridge, when it's entirely safe. In each case, the "faith" is not what "saves" -- but the object in which it is placed.
That said, Biblical faith is not believing in spite of the evidence, but believing because of the evidence. GOD reveals enough to make "faith" in Him and His Word a reasonable thing. BUT -- He leaves enough questions unanswered so as to still require faith!

Buddhism is based on fact.
"Believe nothing.
No matter where you read it,
Or who said it,
Even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense"
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it"

Faith is the excuse for ignorance. If ignorance is bliss, Christians must be having never-ending explosive orgasms.

Amazing...very well put!! It's so funny when they try to claim that they are the logical ones. I don't think that anyone can dispute this (even though I know that they'll try) ;0)
