Prayer is an act of selfishness meant only to make the one saying the prayer feel good about themselves. Prayer is also born out of the need to feel powerful in a situation where one is actually powerless. Praying to God makes a hopeless situation seem as though there is some hope, it relieves humans being from the burden of feeling helpless in dire situations.
And in most cases prayer is only offered because the one doing the praying thinks God will look favorably upon them for caring about other...an act born out of pure selfishness.

I assume that they mean what they say. They will include you in their prayer requests at the time of day or night that they pray. Usually, they do not intend to make your business public and if they do enter into corporate prayer, they usually leave your name out of it.

Usually when someone says,"I'll pray for you.,"it means that they will acknowledge you in their prayer when they pray to God so that He may strengthen you or help you.I'm not trying to be funny, but now in the world today, you have to watch who is praying for you because you don't know if they are praying for something good or something bad upon you so be careful.

They are simply lifting your name to God that He will do to you what is needed. That He will heal the sick, give aid to those in need, feed the hungry, and shelter the homeless. Or help with a just a simple problem .
It is the most powerful connection with the Almightly, and if you are being prayed for, then God is going to be there, with you. Always.

I have found it's usually said when they want to feel superior to you. I doubt they really hit their knees and say a prayer for you, they just say that to make sure you know that they feel like they are better than you.

If people truly mean that "they will pray for you", then they will be getting down on their knees and furvently praying to God to help u and guide u thru whatever it is u r going thru...other times it is just a gesture to make themselves sound like they care.

they are going to say a prayer for you. Usually they stand up in church and ask everyone to say a prayer for you.
