Nothing happens by chance; although it may seem of miniscule importance or just a coincidence, everything happens for a reason. God is all powerful, so one would think he’d control the smallest of things for the biggest of purposes in the end. What do you think?

Western society appears to worship "The Lumberjack "as the ultimate male idol. I wonder if there is a place for those who are more complex, "karma-conscious", and above those disappointingly basic, traditional role models.
Any ideas, anyone?
Thank you.

Bible Sales

A minister concluded that his church was getting into serious
financial troubles.

While checking the church storeroom, he discovered several cartons of
new bibles that had never been opened and distributed. So at his
Sunday sermon he asked for three volunteers from the congregation who
would be willing to sell the bibles door-to-door for $10 each to raise
the desperately needed money for the church.

Peter, Paul and Louie all raised their hands to volunteer for the
task. The minister knew that Peter and Paul earned their living as
salesmen and were likely capable of selling some bibles but he had
serious doubts about Louie. Louie was just a little local farmer, who
had always tended to keep to himself because he was embarrassed by his
speech impediment. Poor little Louis stuttered very badly. But, not
wanting to discourage poor Louis, the minister decided to let him try
anyway.

He sent the three of them away with the back seat of their cars
stacked with bibles and asked them to meet with him and report the
results of their door-to-door selling efforts the following Sunday.

Anxious to find out how successful they were, the minister immediately
asked Peter, "Well, Peter, how did you make out selling our bibles
last week?"

Proudly handing the reverend an envelope, Peter replied, "using my
sales prowess, I was able to sell 20 bibles, and here's the $200 I
collected on behalf of the church."

"Fine job, Peter!" The minister said, vigorously shaking his hand.
"You are indeed a fine salesman and the Church is indebted to you."
Turning to Paul, he asked "And Paul, how many bibles did you manage to
sell for the church last week?"

Paul, smiling and sticking out his chest, confidently replied, "I am a
professional salesman and was happy to give the church the benefit of
my sales expertise. Last week I sold 28 bibles on behalf of the
church, and here's $280 I collected."

The minister responded, "That's absolutely splendid, Paul. You are
truly a professional salesman and the church is also indebted to you."

Apprehensively, the minister turned to little Louie and said, "And
Louie, did you manage to sell any bibles last week?"

Louie silently offered the minister a large envelope. The reverend
opened it and counted the contents. "What is this?" the minister
exclaimed. "Louie, there's $3200 in here! Are you suggesting that you
sold 320 bibles for the church, door to door, in just one week?

Louie just nodded.

That's impossible!" both Peter and Paul said in unison. "We are
professional salesmen, yet you claim to have sold 10 times as many
bibles as we could."

"Yes, this does seem unlikely," the minister agreed. "I think you'd
better explain how you managed to accomplish this, Louie."

Louie shrugged "I-I-I- re-re-really do-do-don't kn-kn-know f-f-f-for
sh-sh-sh-sure," he stammered.

Impatiently, Peter interrupted. "For crying out loud, Louie, just tell
us what you said to them when they answered the door!"

"A-a-a-all I-I-I s-s-said wa-wa-was," Louis replied, "W-w-w-w-would

I was raised strictly Baptist but am now sort of everything - a mix of Christian, Quaker, and Buddhist. Like when you were a kid, our parents either dragged us to church with them or stay home because they were atheist...

Did you enjoy growing up the religion you grew up with? Are you still that religion? If not, what do your parents think about that?

I am reading a book called, "The Laughing Jesus," in which the authors claim a distinction between "literalism" and their version of Gnostic Christianity. They claim that Gnostics used Jesus as a mythological device to explain their beliefs; but that a physical human never existed named Jesus. I find this confusing because other Gnostic literature does not seem to agree with this claim that Gnostics didn't believe in an actual human Jesus

Did you wonder if your father would believe your story, and that he would go find you a husband fast? Ever wonder what Mariam's (Mary) father and mother thought about this story? Every wonder why GOD would send a Holy Angel to rape a married young woman (After all she was supposedly espoused, and that is according to Jewish Law, MARRIED....so any such story about GOD causing this girl to become pregnant is nonsense. GOD does not violate the TORAH or INSTRUCTIONS which by the WORD promotes Holiness for Israel. An espoused woman, or married, having intercourse with ANY other creature, or man, or myth,,,,would be brought to court and tried for adultery....if she was raped, she had recourse in the Law for redress, and who ever had caused her pregancy, was tried under this Strict law. To pass the whole virgin birth narrative off as Jewish history is to ignore the many myths that circulated in the region, and had been part of the Greek Pantheon for hundreds of years.

Atheists are always saying we believe in the insane concept of God or Jesus Christ being gods. They say we have no proof, no logic, and are ignorant. How can they prove there is no god. How can they prove that all the matter in the universe was in a tiny pinpoint and exploded into the universe, or the "Big Bang". And also they all say that Christians try to force the faith on them. Christian try to witness to people not force it on them. I'll admit that Christians have had brutal methods and times in the past. But for some reason we have come beyond the Crusades (sorry Islam) and it was one party of German Christians in the Holocaust not all Christians just one polotical party.
