I was raised strictly Baptist but am now sort of everything - a mix of Christian, Quaker, and Buddhist. Like when you were a kid, our parents either dragged us to church with them or stay home because they were atheist...

Did you enjoy growing up the religion you grew up with? Are you still that religion? If not, what do your parents think about that?

I was brought up under Church of England. Im now agnostic and even though my mother is upset that i no longer have faith she says nothing about it. Im now pregnant with my first child and she wants me to get him baptised. I refuse to. I think its hypocritical for me to claim non christianity but push it on my child.

I hold no grudges though as to what my child chooses as they get older. Whether they are christian, muslim, jewish, hindu, even atheist....heck as long as it makes him happy then im all for it.

I grew up in a Lutheran church, and yes, I did enjoy it.

I now attend a Pentecostal church.

My parents are no longer alive, and I returned to a relationship with Christ after their death...... so I know not what they think, but suspect they would not care as long as I carry on a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior.

I am no longer a part of that religion because it became too religious. Let me explain...... there is a difference between faith/belief and religion. The ceremony and tradition found in many churches often gets in the way and/or is contradictory to the teachings of the Bible.
Therefore I worship where I feel the teachings are from the Bible without the pomp and circumstance, and I claim to be a follower of Christ that worships at a Pentecostal church.
I am a believer, and I am spiritual, but I am not religious. I truly believe Christ would be disappointed in the whole concept of religions..... they divide people and his main messages were that of peace, love, joy, and harmony.

I wasn't really raised to be any religion. I was taken to Quaker meeting briefly when younger, but I never actually believed any of it and didn't really enjoy going. When I was 14 we started going to a Unitarian Universalist church, which I did enjoy attending and went to until age 20.

I am now Pagan (and have been so since age 16) which I am very happy with. My mother doesn't care what religion I am, and I don't know if my father is aware of my religion though I doubt he would care.

I was born Buddhist but my family does not practice the religion. Every festival they would go praying at temples and drag the kids along. It wasn't that great.
I met some Buddhists online when I was about 18 and started my religious studies. My parents objected! They worried that I would get obsessed. But they found that I was so much easier to get along with after I went religious. Now I am receiving all their support with my spiritual activities. I am enjoying every moment of it.

Baptist,Methodist,Penticostal, Episcapalian.
No I did not enjoy it beyond age 5 or 6.
I Am now studying with Jehovah Wittnesses and I see why I did not enjoy it because no one in the churches that I attended were sincere but rather hypicritical and as a small child we would learn one and then the audults in the church would do things the bible taught against.
My one living parent does not get all weird about my choise anymore but he once told me that he was jelouse because I had something that he did not-God.

I was raised as an atheist, though my grandmother was more of a Gnostic. I researched religion the majority of my life & I am close to 50 years old now. I recieved Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior in 1997 & still grow stronger & stronger in my faith as I walk with Him daily!
An interesting book to read" The case for faith" by Lee Stroble (though it was reading ALL the Bible, & the many issues that followed that changed my way of thinking! ) For great viewpoints on various "religions"...try "Kingdom of the cults" by the late Walter Martin. Hope this helps.

I was raised a Baptist, but when I became a teen, siblings and I started going to a Pentecostal Holiness Church.
I am glad we did because now, we know what it is like to feel the presence of The Lord everyday.
My dad changed his religion after us kids started and he saw the difference in us. Mom stayed a Baptist and is afraid of our Church. She would rather believe in the "Once saved, always saved" way of thinking. She wants to believe it is that easy to get to Heaven. But she does believe in the Holly Spirit. It scares her too.

I was raised a Catholic and didn't really enjoy it. When I was in the first grade, the nuns told me my parents were going to burn in hell for not going to church every Sunday. I was crushed. I went to Mass 6 times each week and was very religious. Now I belong to a Christian non-denominational church and I consider myself saved. I am very happy with my church family but my parents think I'm kind of weird not being Catholic anymore...)(

I grew up Catholic and it scared the heck out of me. The priests always scared us with "HELL" and "The Devil". I am still Catholic and now a days the Pris ts only talk of Love and Peace. I go every Sunday and it is so much more pleasant than when I was a kid. My parents sent us to church but I have no memory of them ever attending themselves.

I grew up with the Church of Christ, I did enjoy my up bringing but always had so many questions. I really didn't like the fact that some answers were simply "you have to have faith". WHAT?? Faith? give me a little more than that! So i ventured away from Christianity as most know it. I follow an earth based spirituality, like to say I am more spiritual, not really religious. I don't like people telling me what I am suppose to believe, which is what churches like to do. I like to take my own journey and learn what God/dess has to tell me for myself.

i was raised catholic. i neither enjoyed it nor hated it. it had no meaning for me. i was too young to know any better.

now that im older (and hopefully a little wiser), i do not follow any religion. i believe that religions were made by men who wanted to control other people.

as for my parents, they never were very religious in the first place. they want what is best for me, and they dont care what if i follow a religion or not.
