I am not a Christian and I hope someone can help me find out why Jesus is always depicted in films and tv as a white man. When Madonna's 'Like a Prayer' video came out there was a black jesus in it caused outrage (as well as some other things in the video)
If Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God and they also believe he lived in an arabic part of the world why can't they comprehend he had dark skin?

I saw on the Discovery channel a man who was interviewing a primative group of people who live in the Indonesia area.

This man has studied these people for the past 20 years and was now interviewing them on the topic of how they survived the tsunami, when they were in the pathway of it....

A spokes person for the group said that life is like living in a tree. There are negative forces trying to shake you out of the tree and there are positive forces trying to help you stay in. To survive, you must recognize this.

When they saw the water retract far away from the shoreline, although they had never seen this before, they new that this was a "bad" force and they ran for the hills were they were above the flood line and survived.

As a spiritual person I can relate to what they are talking about....I believe that this is a great example of the term "salvation." What do you think?

Okay, so faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. And, faith is a gift of God. Acts 16:31 says, “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved”. It doesn't say accept, it says believe. Given to you, you don't have to make a choice for it. So why do we have to go any further than that except by responding with a prayer of thanks rather than a prayer of acceptance, as if we were signing for a package? No need to sign, it's YOURS!

I grew up in Miami and the Santerians were always putting hexes on people. What I really couldn't stand was when they sacrificed an animal in a suburban yard. The animal would be begging for it's life. That would ruffle me. Ever hear of this belief?

Before I start, I am a Christian and I don't believe in evolution. But it is kind of tough not to when I come across most Christians trying to deny evolution, because nothing looks more like a ticked-off gorilla or chimp than a Christian trying to say evolution doesn't happen. I guess this is more a question of why so many Christians find it so hard to be reasonable when dealing with matters that go against their religion? Can anyone tell me how to calm them down when I am with them (other Christians) so we might have a decent chance in class when debating this?

Why do atheists post in the Religion & Spirituality section? If you are an atheist - you don't believe in God. So, then you would have neither religion nor spirituality to discuss.

Am I missing something?
Or, are you missing something...

Why would a person who's not a christian wear a cross when its a symbol of christianity? Would you wear a flag on yourself from a country you werent from? I'm not a christian and i wouldnt wear a cross. If you wear a cross, you just wanna show off your retardation that your a christian, thered be no other reason to wear one.

Faith, religion are mostly taught. If your parents were Catholic you have a great chance of growing up to be catholic. If you were not a Christian(doesn't matter the denomination you choose) what were the EXPERINCES that caused your you to become christian.
