I saw on the Discovery channel a man who was interviewing a primative group of people who live in the Indonesia area.

This man has studied these people for the past 20 years and was now interviewing them on the topic of how they survived the tsunami, when they were in the pathway of it....

A spokes person for the group said that life is like living in a tree. There are negative forces trying to shake you out of the tree and there are positive forces trying to help you stay in. To survive, you must recognize this.

When they saw the water retract far away from the shoreline, although they had never seen this before, they new that this was a "bad" force and they ran for the hills were they were above the flood line and survived.

As a spiritual person I can relate to what they are talking about....I believe that this is a great example of the term "salvation." What do you think?

I'm not sure about 'salvation' as it can be defined so many ways. Well, wait, maybe yes. Being in tune with thier environment saved them. Understanding and having faith in the planet helped them to aviod a disaster.

I guess you could say it is a good example of that.

Interesting.

Sure, I could see that. A reminder that while God is for us and will help us, He doesn't want us just being foolish either. We pray to God to help us, but when He offers the opportunity we don't always take it because we expect God to work huge miracles or something like that. When in reality God has shown a subtleness like just putting in their minds that this is a bad sign when the water recedes very far back and that they need to run. Christians nowadays expect instead (in that situation) that God will magically make them walk on water or send an angel to save them or something like that, when all we need to do is pay attention when God gives the little signs. So I could see this as a salvation thing.

I think it's an example of people using their wits to survive. They might not have known about tsunamis, but they recognized that the receding water wasn't normal and thought it best to get away. No supernatural explanation needed.

Salvation to me is when someone accepts the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and how that He died for their sins and believes that they will go to heaven through His blood. He is their personal savior - saving them from what? From an eternity apart from God in the Lake of Fire. What the people experienced with what you described above could be described as God's mercy and grace - leading them to protection and safety. Why were they protected and not everyone else? Maybe the others had a warning, but chose not to listen to it.

Well, they certainly showed more evidence of their salvation then most people who claim to possess it. They were still alive while the "unsaved" were washed away. Great example of being in-tuned with Nature.
