What if those of us who are regulars here met in real life at a bar and grille, what would happen, we would all introduce ourselves, would we go find our favorite avatar and talk, would we go off into little groups, would it erupt in to a big debate over the finer points of the Bible, would there be a big debate over evolution v creationism, would we notice "heh so and so was just here a minute ago, and where did that one girl whats her name go she was just here, she always answers so and so's questions, oops!"

Would we talk as people, would we hug? Would we say heh its nice meeting you, fun talking to you there on the yahoo answers.

Would we talk about football and baseball playoffs, and senate races around the country, would we talk about wars and rumors of wars in far off places.

Would we all meet at a bar and grill and shake hands and look one another in the eye and say, I respect you and thanks for being apart of my life?

the research with medicines and others ( such as stem cell )
Lets be real folks. OKay, how many of your parents take arthritis medication, blood pressure medicine, diabetes medication, heart medication? WHY ? If you're against medicine and its research YOU should let those people suffer from their ailments since something or someone had to poked and proded and researched to make the medicines, right?
Oh so its only okay when it doesnt involve humans and embroys?
Before I had my son we thought I was barren and we were gonna have to take drugs. my mother inlaw piped in ( southern baptist ) and was like thats messing with GOD, and I looked at her and I said well stop taking your arthritis medication so you cant walk anymore and then you can feel the pain I feel not being able to have a baby, she shut her mouth quick after that.
Point is, all medicine has been researched and tested in ways that is questionable, so lets stop all testing and research and lets live in pain, right?

A religion? and what do they believe in?

2006-08-30 06:30:38 · 8 answers · asked by Lizzeth 3

Greetings all... I would really like to put down to paper exactly what my spiritual beliefs are, both as a record of my spiritual path for myself, but as something to pass onto my children later in life. I can't figure out what exactly constitutes the main tentants of a religion (i.e. 'what you believe about the afterlife' and 'what are your concepts and perceptions of what 'God' is?'....) Does anyone have any ideas just for the outline of an essay of this nature, and what I should include in it? I don't want to leave anything important out... has anyone else ever done this?

Blessings and Light!

Atheists keep saying that religion is evil and dangerous, that religion is the cause of many wars--if not all wars. Atheists seem to have a particular dislike of Christianity. Islam comes in for a lot of atheist criticism too. But Christianity and Islam are heirs to Judaism.

Do atheists blame the Jews for the vast majority of evil in today's world?

after all you think he is the one and only God. Then why can't he make all the people believe in him? Why allow religious wars?

Or is 'Satan' THAT powerful enough to make SO MUCH non-believers? And God just sits there powerless?

When forced into a corner, evolutionists resort to the claim "Even if scientific discoveries do not confirm the theory of evolution today, such developments will take place in the future." The basic starting point here is evolutionists' admission of defeat in the scientific arena. Reading between the lines, we can translate as follows: "Yes, we defenders of the theory of evolution admit that the discoveries of modern science do not support us. For that reason, we can see no alternative but to refer the matter to the future."
Yet science does not function by such logic. A scientist does not first of all blindly devote himself to a theory, hoping that one day the evidence to prove that theory will emerge. Science examines the available evidence and draws conclusions from it. That is why scientists should accept the "design," or the fact of creation in other words, which scientific discoveries have proved.

In fact, people hardened in wickedness could take real comfort in the thought that they would simply cease to exist at death rather than having to answer to God for their sins. What must surely have consoled Adolf Hitler as he saw the inevitability of the German defeat was that he could annihilate himself as a center of consciousness by committing suicide just before the Russians overran his bunker in Berlin; he must have scoffed at the idea of ever having to answer before God for the millions he had had killed, and to be punished accordingly. So his certainty of annihilation must have made it easier for him to carry on his wickedness. Nor can any of us justifiably classify as "terrible" the non-existent state in which all of us were for the countless ages before our births; though without any center of consciousness, no one remembers that time as at all undesirable.

I live in downtown chicago and you literally can't go anywhere without running into a beggar, i would always just give but maybe life made me cynical and having to work my *** off for everything i do have makes me look at them like , **** you i worked for this and all you do is stand there and beg and then when i think about how many people pass there way in places like downtown and how if they get my dollar and 700 other peoples dollars, they end up with more money at the end of the day than i have and that pisses me off, but i just read somebody post about how jesus says to give to beggars and give to borrowers so now i'm confused should i feel bad for not adding to these people's daily bankrolls anymore or just keep giving to be christian like?

The thing is embryonic stem cell research has the potential to cure many dbilitating diseases. However, many people oppose it because it destroys human embryos. Thousands of these embryos are disposed of, wasted and killed every day when they could be used to change some poor persons life. It seems like a very cruel thing to do, to me its akin to a vegetarian standing in front of a starving man and throwing out slabs of meat rather than feed him because it is against their beliefs. Please rethink this, you are condemning people to a life of suffering so you can protect something that is going to die anyway. All I want to know is: Why?

very often when debating homosexuality and the bible. When I see the rare tv show where the issue is challenged, Leviticus is always brought up . Its clear as day in the New testament. Has any Christian noticed this? Why not go to this chapter?

Last night I had a detailed dream that my dog who I had to put to sleep in May (he was 15 and could no longer walk due to arthritis) and my aunt's old cats that were around when I was a kid just appeared out of nowhere to me. I remember hugging my dog so hard...it was wierd, but comforting.

Can anyone relate?

Ok, in the Spring of '04, I had a really weird dream that just came randomly. I was looking out of a window, at the moon, and I saw the man in the moon. All of a sudden the moon got closer and closer to me, until it sort of changed from the man in the moon to the face of Jesus staring at me. He didn't say anything, and I didn't say anything, he just stared into my eyes like he wanted to tell me something, but he didn't say a word. When I woke up, I was so confused & weirded out, because I had no idea where it came from? That summer, I was just suddenly mentally crippled from panic attacks that would leave me temporarily paralyzed and feeling numb. It's like I was going suddenly insane. Then my parents separated and I just got into this really depressed/confused phase, and the next school yr was the worst yr of my life. It was one of the worst times of my life. I think it was a test but what do you think? Do you think it had to do with the dream or anything?

How Did Living Things First Appear On Earth?

If any one step in the evolutionary process is proven to be impossible, this is sufficient to prove that the whole theory is totally false and invalid. For instance, by proving that the haphazard formation of proteins is impossible, all other claims regarding the subsequent steps of evolution are also refuted. After this, it becomes meaningless to take some human and ape skulls and engage in speculation about them.

We seem to live in a male focus society. We reffer to god as a "he" and Its insulting to me as a man to say that the illussive thing called devil is a "he" There seems to be a lot of focus on the being called jesus too! He was proberly nothing more than a wise man philosopher? but hey..what about women like Marie Currie who worked out a theory of xrays radiation? Or Amilia Elmhart who flew the first continental air flight across the seas in a small airplane? So why not women can be enpowered as to being a Goddess Creatrix too? I think its propper to refer to these mytholic illussive beings as an "it" and take off the male focus if we are naive about its gender.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone with this, I don't mean to.

I work at a fire department, and you see many firefighters that are very religious. Many people in the military are very religious.

I have a thought that many people with risky jobs like this hold onto religion to help them get through the day. It's nice to know that there's an afterlife in case you die risking your life like that, you know?

Has anyone else seen something of this sorts?
